Yale grades portray Kerry as a lackluster student
Boston Globe ^ | June 7, 2005 | Michael Kranish

During last year's presidential campaign, John F. Kerry was the candidate often portrayed as intellectual and complex, while George W. Bush was the populist who mangled his sentences.

But newly released records show that Bush and Kerry had a virtually identical grade average at Yale University four decades ago.

Bush had received a cumulative score of 77 for his first three years at Yale and a roughly similar average under a non-numerical rating system during his senior year.

Kerry, who graduated two years before Bush, got a cumulative 76 for his four years, according to a transcript that Kerry sent to the Navy when he was applying for officer training school. He received four D's in his freshman year out of 10 courses, but improved his average in later years.

I don't have the speech, but the Harvard Crimson article mentions his anti-war stance and activities prior to going to Vietnam.

"At Yale, Kerry was chairman of the Political Union and later, as Commencement speaker, urged the United States to withdraw from Vietnam and to scale down foreign military operations. And this was way back in 1966.

When he approached his draft board for permission to study for a year in Paris, the draft board refused and Kerry decided to enlist in the Navy. The Navy assigned him to the USS Gridley which between December 1966 and July 1968 saw four months of action off the Vietnam coast."

Am I just sleepy or do I detect a pattern here???
I'm sleepy too but "lackluster" seems to be a common element in every aspect of sKerry's life. Maybe he'll do a Perot in '08 and add to his lackluster resume' ? ;-)

Do you think this report will be posted at DU?

Sure it will be posted there and they will point out that Kerry was a better student than Bush.

The transcript shows that Kerry's freshman-year average was 71. He scored a 61 in geology, a 63 and 68 in two history classes, and a 69 in political science.

61, 63, 68, 69 are all F's at the schools I attended.

This is actually worse that the "D" average they're saying.

Might explain why he likes to rewrite history

He didn't get it

Well, it's obvious what happened. The evil and powerful Bush clan pulled strings to get W's grades raised and, knowing that Kerry would someday be a rival, they had his lowered. They knew that they couldn't raise Chimpy's grades too high, as everyone knew he was a total moron. And, they couldn't lower Kerry's grades too much, since everyone knew that he was an absolute genius. Ergo, nearly identical grades. < /sarcasm >

Lackluster enemy collaborator...

I disagree. Actually, Kerry was (and still is) very good at collaborating with the enemy. It's one of his few strong points.

Alot of info on Kerry being dumped into the public eye right now...I guess Hillary really is smarter. Gosh, I thought you had to have a better grade point average to get into law school.

Amazing that we didn't hear about this during the election. Thanks for that ping; we won't forget next time he runs for the presidency.

as always the other side acusses us of what they really are or are doing.

I guess it's Kerry that is the idiot. Which makes sense, since Kerry and the dems got their butt kicked by Bush.

It's ironic that Bush, which is probably one of the most educated men to ever be President has gotten a rap as a dolt.

How many men that have been President have gotten more than a 4 year degree ?

Only the libs could turn someone with a Harvard MBA into a dolt.
