As I see it, any behavior that results in higher insurance costs should be reimbursed by higher premiums to those engaging in that behavoir. Life insurance is higher for smokers, those overweight (great or small), those who have dangerous jobs, sky divers, etc. Auto insurance premiums are higher for those with DUIs... As I see it, insurance companies should be able to discriminate for the very purpose of staying in business.
Interestingly, if insurance companies could do this with great precision, society would be just as well of with no insurance companies.
The value of insurance is that it allows people to pool their risk factors. If you also had to pay for each risk factor the value of insurance would be decreased to maybe the same as just taking the risk that you won't get sick.
