Actually, in head to head games, the AFC has been dominant for many years. It's just that the NFC team usually won the Super Bowl.

Look at all the "great" teams from the 80's and 90's that used to be dominant, 49ers, Giants,Bears, Redskin's and the Cowboys. They are all terrible now, the Cowboys are the only team that might have a respectable season.The AFC is just so much better.
