Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.
Here's a few helpful links.
C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]
Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate Majority and Senate Minority
And Monthly Calendars for the House Majority and Roll Call Votes can be found here.
THE WAR DEPARTMENT (aka The Dept. of Defense)
Yes, and he is talking about the same SCOTUS that has just told a bunch of people in my city, that their houses are gonna be torn down for a COWBOYS FOOTBALL STADIUM!!!!!
ON ABC News, they are talking about Rove's statement last night about the difference between the dems and reps after 9/11...they played Schumer getting "outraged" by what Rove said...
Then they played Scott McClellan say that Rove was just pointing out the "different philosophies" between the parties, after 9/11, and the White House sees no reason to apologize....LOL
I heard Laura Ingraham talking about this, this morning--the opinion came down right before her show was over...
SHE pointed out that the SCOTUS made a mistake, and that maybe people will really pay attention to the upcoming SCOTUS fight in the Senate...
BTW, I heard the dissenting judges were, Scalia, Thomas, O'Connor, Rehnquist...sound familiar????
Thanks missed most of Cornyn, but McConnell is doing a good job!
Yes they do
Yes those were the dissenters. Consider, you have a piece of property that I want, but you refuse my offer. All I have to do is contact my friends at the mayors office or my big developer friends who grease the skids, file the paperwork and *blink* you are packing your stuff and I own your property.
Un freakin believable.
So apparently Schumer and Leahy were up this morning implying the President is to consult with them on a Supreme Court Justice if he is to avoid trouble and that is the reason for the Cornyn/McConnell response.
Yes
Schumer up acting very defensive again! I am about sick of these Democrats, I really wish they would shut up!
Yes, at the first of todays posts on the senate page, you can read the remarks by the posters...I didn't hear them either...
Schumer up screaming about those nasty Senators Cornyn and McConnell...calling the dems poltical---darn them!
They are going berserk thinking about the SCOTUS this summer, but if I were them---I would look to today's decision to figure out WHY President Bush and the Republicans ARE NOT gonna give them the liberal judge they want!!!
Boy he's in a tizzy..............
The Dems realize that today's decision of the USSC WILL NOT go over with the american people
I know but these damn democrats are like a broken record, just once an original thought would be nice as opposed to moveon's talking points! They give the same damn speech every day!
He didn't even know what state that McConnell is from---and how many years have they served together?
He is being a big baby!!!!
Ike Skelton on 3 is playing the "oh, woe is me" card!!!!
Remind me to reprint CHUCKIE'S remarks tomorrow...........he's off his rocker today.
again..the Dems are trying to lay the rationale for their upcoming filabuster..of any nominee W makes..I do hope that Graham and DeWine and Warner are paying close attention..
He KNOWS they are in trouble now
As soon as we cease the Supreme Court we need to inter all the Democrat Congressmen and Senators!
He is still saying that President Bush should consult even though both McConnell and Cornyn pointed out that not only does the POTUS NOT have to consult, but that BIDEN admitted in decades gone by that they aren't there to make the decision, just to vote....LOL
