I'll give David this much...

He certainly has cajones to keep entering the den of snakes.
I'm surprised they haven't lit his beard on fire...

Good read. These liberals are ridiculous. I have had more than my share of arguments with them and they all end up in the same way, liberals responding to queries by repeating the same BS over and over. You can't argue with liberals because they don't argue with reason or logic...only attitude and emotion. They are irrational, self-centered and jaded.

It’s time for legislatures to take a look at the institutions they fund. The integrity of our educational system is at stake. Taxpayers do not underwrite the public schools so that political activists posing as teachers can have a captive audience for their political agendas.

I still believe that schools are largely a reflection of their communities, and I'm having trouble envisioning more than a token couple of the leftist teachers described here teaching at any public school within a hundred miles of me.

As long as both sides are adequately represented, I don't think it's a bad idea to expose students to reasoned debate. They need to learn discernment at some point.

Don't be so sure. We had this sort of thinking, only substantially toned down, by individuals in the private Christian school our son graduated from. Younger teachers have gotten the full-bore indoctrination in our colleges, and are carrying it to the K-12 level.

The good side of this (silver lining) is that the more aware students (like my son) see it, and call it out, much like the young man in this article who pointed out in class that Saddam had killed his own people with WMDs. And our kids are thus more able to deal with the nonsense they'll get in college "Liberal Arts" classrooms.

Traditionally, a lot of antiwar rhetoric has come from Christians. Weren't some Christian sects the original conscientious objectors?

As I say, it's good for children to be able to learn discernment. Sounds as if you're doing a great job with your son.

I agree. My son is a 19 year old republican. So are all his friends. They see right through the political agenda, which I give them tons of credit for.

Smart kids these days.

Excellent post.

"Walking away from the crowd that had gathered for our little dust up, I found myself alongside Marcie Winograd. “Don’t you think it’s abusive to inflict your political agendas on school children who are here for an education?” I asked. “But the media are all on the other side,” she replied. “Even if your claim were correct,” I said, “and it is not, this is not the media. This is a school. Can’t you appreciate the difference?” “The media are on the other side" she repeated. I could see the whole issue was above her mental ceiling and gave up."

How do these valiant patriotic truth tellers, like David Horowitz, continue to fight for our freedoms, hour after hour, day after day? I have the utmost respect for their stamina and determination.

I agree, however, I think his point is that too often the students only get one side.

I used to think the same about our little rural community, until I got involved in district affairs and observed more. Teachers get indoctrinated hard in college, more so than with most other majors, and almost uncomparable to no college (except for those in unions). Many teachers, especially at the h.s. level, have a condescending opinion of parents and the community at large, though they've learned to cover it well and ease the agenda into the classroom.

I keep repeating this: learn about The Frankfurt School -- it laid the groundwork for what alarms us now.

I agree, I hated my high school because the english, gov't, and some other teachers were very liberal. During my American Gov't class we took a political test to see wehere we were. I was the most Conservative person in the class by a long shot. There was a difference in the teachers attitude toward me after that.
One of the required classes for english was World Literature, and the books we had to read were written by some liberal people. And the teacher had democratic canadate bumper stickers placed on her carry bag she had in the classroom.
At first my dad always wanted me to go to college and graduate. But I never signed back up for classes after I got back from deployment, and becase the schoold are so liberal, he isn't too upset. I'm just going to take the online courses and once I go active duty military take some classes on base during free time.

He is a modern American hero, a modern version of Paul Revere, Patrick Henry, etc.

There are very few people who have the courage of David. I find it hard to express the admiration I have for him.
