I also heard that if a company has an outlet in your state (like JC Penny's), then you have to pay the state taxes.
But there are no online cigarette company's in Maine, so why should we pay state tax?
It isn't Maine's money anyway. It is OUR money!!!!
The Federal judge shot this down for Maine anyway. Maine has over stepped their bounds trying to collect the online cigarette taxes.
That's what presence means. Or, that's what it meant. Now it will be more loosely interpreted so they can tax everything anywhere.
But you ARE Maine.
Gosh, the government is only trying to do their job and represent you in the best way possible on an individual rights basis.
Do you think the the state government of Maine is Communistic or something?
You ARE Maine and it's YOUR responsibility to maintain Maine as a pristine, beautiful, and enticing tourist trap so your government can take in more money and spend it as they deem fit to make your life worth living as an individual.
Gosh, you really don't show much appreciation for what your state does for you with the money you are so graciously giving them to make YOUR home a much better place to live.
So what, a couple of rights infringed upon, a couple of duties to perform for the cause, but look at what YOU get for it.
Statistically, with your concerning investment in your state, you should in the long run as an individual appreciate your forced investment, for after all government knows best.
All sarcasm aside, I agree. It is YOUR money.
