The bottom line is all wholesale and retail physical address outlets are unpaid tax collectors for the state and federal governments....throw in some cities and local municipalities too.

In most states, only nonessential goods and services are subject to taxation; in some states all goods and services are subject to taxation (but you receive a pittance credit when filing taxes).

If the states do this, the feds will too. Followed by the municipalities.

Everyone should purchase a copy of The Greedy Hand by Amity Schlaes for summer reading......before it too gets taxed....and before Swap Meets and Garage sales fall under the purview of the Taxman.

if it passes, this will finish off most retail ecommerce. no one will pay sales tax, PLUS shipping and handling, to buy a book or a DVD. they will just buy it at a local store.

I had finally decided (after countless discussions with them) that our Mn. Legislators are collectively unqualified but must admit I'm impressed with the way they covered all the bases with this Bill. I personally can't think of one rock they didn't turn over to protect their buddies.
