Colson said he went to jail for passing an FBI file to a reporter! He went to jail voluntary because he knew he broke the law!

OK, I read it, what am I missing? It is clear that although at the time some of the intelligence on WMD was shaky, they still thought it was there. In fact it states that they expect Saddam to use WMD on the first day. It also says that GWB was intent on going to war regardless of what the UN said. Why is this any different than what we have know since August of 2002? What in this memo am I missing?

ANYONE......

Someone in an earlier post said the judge threw it out. That would make it a 'win' for me. I miss his show - used to get it here in NE TX.

I heard a good part of Michael Reagan's Liddy interview earlier this week. According to Liddy, the judge in the case ruled to either admit some key piece of evidence from Liddy's side, or threw out some key piece of evidence from Dean's (sorry, I'm just having a horrendous brain fart here and cannot remember which was the case!). At any rate, once the judge made his ruling, Dean and his lawyers didn't even bother to show up in court, so the judge tossed the suit.

How do we know that the memo is not forged?

It's just that the Fox Crowd on the Weekend show are not competent. They read the New York Times in the morning and that provides their talking points.

They gave Julian that interview with the Human Rights Watch guy and it was embarrassing.

It's ok to have one of those idiots interview someone if it's a celebrity or a sports person, but this required a real interviewer, or at least provide a person with another opinion for a debate.

What a joke

Ben Vista's remark about Liddy "cooking w/candle light" was...I think...a reference to Liddy's account of once testing himself and his endurance to pain by placing his hand above a lit candle and watching as his hand burned. If this is the case, Ben Vista took a cheap shot at Liddy's action.

I don't think you're missing a thing. This is ridiculous as an issue, but it's all the Democrats have and they think they can exploit it. Once it's killed, again, they will ignore it and pretend it never happened as they move on to a new issue they believe they can use to win.

Right understand again it is amazing how many of these organizations that in all intents and purposes are charities or humanity organizations have been either hijacked by the left or were just a cover for that in the first place.

snugs, you made this same, excellent observation early on in this thread, but I had to go to church and was unable to comment at that time. It is indeed an amazing phenomenon, but it is not accidental. What you are seeing here are the manifestations of the long-term implementation of the socialist theories of Antonio Gramsci. If you google "Antonio Gramsci" and "Gramscian socialism" you will gain a better understanding of the subversive dynamic which at been in process worldwide for almost a century. There is also a wealth of information in the Free Republic archives which you can search.

I offer a caveat, however. If you start down this road and seek-out this information, it will change the way you look at the world.

Regarding your concern about RINO involvement in an attempt to impeach President Bush: don't worry about it.

Please remember, any impeachment must start in the House of Representatives. Does it seem reasonable to think that the very Republican House, with Tom Delay in charge (!) will allow a flimsy accusation like this to get anywhere? No.

Kerry is having fun firing up the moonbats and the media will puff it all they can, but in the end, it's just another empty charge that will go nowhere.

Just finished watching Ben Veniste, Charles Colson, and john Dean on with Wolf Blitzed. Beniste and Dean won't say much about Felt, except that his decision to do what he did was "too nuanced" to judge. But Veniste does indeed mention Felt's desire to head the FBI was a factor.

Thank goodness Charles Colson took the chance to respond to one of Veniste's "nuanced" insults. (Veniste spoke of these "felon revisionist" Nixon defenders)

John Dean says for certain Felt was not acting alone. Just look at the facts, he says, and he says it's someone who was inside the White House, maybe the FBI White House liason officer.

Colson wants to know if Veniste thinks "the ends justifies the means". Veniste dodges, refuses to respond. Colson intimates if so, then that speaks volumes about how the hearings were conducted.

I have noticed all week that John Dean, who just wrapped up an appearance on CNN with Ben Veniste and Chuck Colson, is ticked that Deep Throat turned out to be Felt and keeps saying how it couldn't be him.

Earth to Dean: It's him. Felt got information from various sources, including in the WH and passed it on.

I believe Dean was hoping a Nixon crony would be the one so he could be assured he wouldn't be the only WH betrayer.

I knew about her book. Does she plan to run for office again? Otherwise, why have a PAC? (I never really understood why W would appoint her to anything.)

If the Republicans have already come up with a plan to counter it, they obviously think this is a concerted Dim effort.

Having said that, I've never heard of All Headline News or Douglas Maher before (I hope he's not related to Bill). Are they a reputable outlet?

An earlier post has a link to the LIddy letter - his web site. When I could still listen to his show, he would have a lot of good comments about Watergate and John Dean.

I saw most of that segment, too. Colson sets a fine example of how a man can redeem himself and he is able to lay out right vs. wrong plainly, IMO.

Ben Veniste always oozes smarm.

In his talk show round-up segment Wolf played a clip of Ben Bradlee from this morning saying flat out it's now clear Felt's motive was because his dreams of heading up the FBI were squashed. He then says he can't think of any nobler reason for Felt to act as he then did! You could hear audible snickers from whoever else was on the show over this revisionist reasoning.
