How long has America been around compared to most countries? We're toddlers compared to India, Egypt and China. We have our problems-serious ones, and we need to deal with them. But I'd say we have a few more centuries to go before we start planning our own funeral.

The times will get worse before they get better... I'm afraid this is unavoidable because too many leftists in this country, it's fields of academy, the media, private consortiums like the Ford foundation, Soros, etc., exercise powerful and seductive propaganda that will tempt many.
But we will be triumphant, Frater... remember always; short of the return of our Lord, America is mankind's last and best hope.

Go to church on a regular basis? The Bible's prophesies have been 100% on the mark thus far. One of those prophesies says that when Israel is born as a nation in a single day (as was the case in May of 1948) that generation shall not pass away before the world sees the return of the son of man (Jesus Christ). That started the clock ticking. A Biblical "generation" is about 60 years in duration.
According to the Bible, a global catastrophe will occur and a "savior" will appear to heal the situation. This savior will come from the old monarchies of Europe and he will be the AntiChrist. He will be winsome and gentle and a HEALER (at first). The world will be drawn to him. When he begins to consolidate power those who love freedom will rise against him. Who might that be? Two things must happen before the AntiChrist can rise:
#1 The Bible says that the Church will be removed. RAPTURE READY? Within a short time that era of history will give rise to the period known in the Bible as The Tribulation. It will last for seven years.
#2 Even before that wondrous event, the United States of America MUST be removed from the global stage as a world superpower. What form this will take, I don't know.
Right now, FX Network is running a movie titled Oil Storm and I highly recommend that every freeper see it, because it seems at least plausible to me. A hurricane takes out the Louisiana refineries and oil platforms causing the price of crude to shoot up to $150 a barrel. That would wipe out the American economy pretty quick.
I could also see an act of nuclear terrorism (one or more actual devices detonating not just the so called Dirty Bomb) as shattering our society.
Now, since I am also a history teacher, here's a neat little tidbit from the ancient civilizations of the Mayans and the Aztec. Those two groups developed an amazingly accurate and intricate calendar. This calendar in both civilizations simply ENDS in the year 2012. Now, subtract seven years of Tribulation and you get what year? Maybe only six months to go? Relax, the sky is not falling. God is firmly in control. But I'm more than ready.
I'm not a date setter, I merely offer this as interesting possibilities. The Bible also says that nobody except God the Father knows the date and hour of the return of Jesus. But the time is without doubt drawing near. In fact the recent seeming collapse of the European Union plays directly into Biblical prophesy, which suggests that the era of the rise of AntiChrist will show ten nations instead of the multitudes of the current union. That will fall apart and be reborn as something else. So the stage there is essentially set.
All that remains as a major obstacle to the Prince of Evil is the USA and it's 100 million armed citizens. Why do you think all the gun control initiatives are being so frantically pushed (by the UN and their liberal lapdogs in this country) even though the proponents know it's a losing issue for them? Gotta wonder about that.
Read this book: The Creature From Jekyll Island by G. Edward Griffin. It's a book on economics and the Federal Reserve that illustrates vividly what I've just postulated in terms of my Christianity. It is NOT boring and reads in fact like a political thriller, with a summary of each chapter offered at the end of that chapter.
