Should Muslim women be on Mt Everest?
Daily Times, Pakistan ^ | June 04

Posted on 06/04/2005 7:08:36 AM PDT by ttsmi

Think about it. Can a woman safely scale Everest while fretting whether any of her hair is visible? Can she do so while obsessing about the legs or arms showing (both of which remain taboo in the Muslim community, regardless of the weather or circumstances)? Think somebody can climb a mountain wearing a shalwar kamees, much less a jilbab?

Wait, it gets worse. What if there is a man beneath her on the trail? Is she not dishonored by this compromising position? And won’t that sight risk causing fitnah and fatality on the mountainside? (I’m reminded of the fretting of late about the dire consequences of female imams bending over in front of men.)

She had better worry about it. If she gets up high enough, exposed skin can freeze inside a minute.

Hey if she can get to the top of Everest, she's a better man than I am.

When you climb Mt. Everest, aren't you totally covered because it's so cold? Most people have to breath supplemental oxygen, so the heavy clothes, coat hood, and oxygen mask pretty much cover everything.

I think it is a matter of jealousy for radical Pakis to see Iranian women at top of Mt. Everest!

This writer may have a short and miserable life for discussing such issues.

Maybe in middle school but most adults have gotten past these archaic notions.

Oh wait - this is Islam..

It's important that these women summit for a couple of reasons. First, if they made the preparations and can summit, more power to them for a well planned event. Second and most imortant is to point out the hypocracy of islam! Anytime there is disruption of this dangerous cult, the better. Perhaps when others that are supposedly islam have there first free thought, they will observe what a POS, bad bill of goods islam is!

What????

Here is Miss Lebanon, 2005.

Now, can we assume she is Christian and not Muslim?

Here is 2004 Olympian and Muslim woman track competitor Smaira Zahoor.

Swimmer and Muslim woman Rubab Raza, 2004 Olympics:

Being that Pakistan sent Muslim women swimmers and long distance runners to the 2004 Olympics, it is odd that this Pakistani writer would say this.

You may be right--it is jealousy.

Next time my Lebanese family sits down to eat Tabbouleh, Kibi Akras and Falafel, I am going to think about this hot "Miss Lebanon" dish!

Thank God we are (Lebanese) Christians (not Muslims) and I can say Miss Lebanon is HOT!

In the Muslim religion and culture, women might as well not exist or they do for one specific purpose only: to bear children. Their worth is equivalent to that of a refrigerator.
NOW, can you hear me now?

They should be climbing their own black metorite seeking their allah. We really should not let Mt Everest be exposed to their stench. NSNR

they can do whatever they wish. If they make it, maybe it will be a blow to an already crumbling fundamentalist hold in Iran.

It would be hilarious if they summitted and then defected, claiming asylum from a culture that would have them killed for their accomplishments.
