Until a few years ago, the money that immigrants sent back home every month was only their business. But remittances around the world now total more than $126 billion, according to the World Bank. So it's become an issue for economists, governments and politicians.

According to the article, the mexicans send 17 billion a year to mexico, NOT 126 billion. How is 17 billion a year causing the US to slide into anarchy ?

My college-educated daughter lost her job a few years back and it was more than a year before she got another. Everywhere she applied, temp agencies, etc, she was told in Spanish accented voices over the phone, that she was overqualified, wouldn't be happy working there, etc.. This was widespread, you couldn't miss what was going on...MetroWest MA. Then she'd see busloads of Brazilians being brought to this or that business where she'd been turned away. Clearly, they preferred paying probable illegal immigrants with phony papers the minimum wage.
Yep - I agree with ya Dane. $24 an hour construction jobs are out there and that $24 an hour will get you a four man "hard working hispanic workforce".

I believe that there will be a war against illegal aliens before Bush leaves office. Bush is not leaving American citizens any other choice but to take care of this criminal illeagl alien problem themselves. You are right though, I would not vote for him again, if I had to to do over.
Bush/the feds gave border hospitals $1.3 plus billion to treat illegals and stay open. Before long, the same handout and more will head to border states with mushrooming illegal immigrant student populations and not enough state tax money to pay the tab. Schools and teachers are overwhelmed with numbers of non-English speaking kids. No English at home, no clue as to American laws, culture, etc.. The teachers are expected to turn this around, and it's well nigh impossible.
Well, one way illegals can afford to live here is having a dozen or more in one apt.

When you consider how much these illegals cost for incarceration, cost for education, for medication, and now the 126 Billion they send home, why even call ourselve sthe USA anymore.

Because of this, American citizens will eventually have to go to war to protect themselves and what little government we have left. Along with facing outright war, Bush demands that the American taxpayers pay for each and every illegal's health care, housing, schools and whatever else they want, which will bankrupt America and plunge us into a third world hell.
If you can't see that either you are an open borders sympathizer, or a Republican who loves the party more than his country.
There's also the multiple social security numbers scheme. They'd get a couple of fake numbers, wangle disability or SSI, and then rent several Post office boxes in different towns. On pay day, go around and clean out the boxes. This may be harder to do these days, but it's been quite popular.
Thank you, for that post. Great explanation of the money scam going on. The argument isn't about immigration, per se. (Even the amt of remittance money is almost a sidebar.) It's illegals, vast numbers of them who come in and scam the system. A few thousand, even a few hundred thousand wouldn't make much difference. Get to twenty million and counting and we lose this country. No way such a huge number can assimilate all at once, so the pointy head libs say, don't bother, we'll accommodate you and supply welfare, medical, dental, education. Goodbye English, American culture, mores, customs, laws, sovereignty, the glue that holds us together and defines us.
Mexican banks charge a hefty tax on the remittances at their end, by the way.
