LOL........I listened to the 40's channel on XM all day at a picnic. They were doing nothing but war era tunes, per the 6th of June being D-Day. Great stuff.....:o)

THAT kind of stuff I could listen to all day, too! Of course, my dad played trombone in a big band during WW II, so we grew up listening to that music in our home. :-)

Hi All-

Please don't tell me you believe The Cult is a one-hit wonder band. Pick an album of theirs, any album, and you'll find hit songs. They deserve more recognition than they ever received. I'm convinced that Ian Astbury was Jim Morrison in a previous life.

Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “Rum and Coca Cola” and “I’ll be with you in Apple Blossom Time" from Maxene, Laverne and Patty kept us company at my Moms Birthday Party. She was 71 or will be on the 6th. She had fun. That was all that counted.

Stay safe !

Did you know that Wayne Newton remade Apple Blossom Time back in Spring of 1965?

Hi ViLaLuz-

Prince a one-hit wonder? Puh-lease. Not my cup of tea, but clearly a musical genius and ultra-successful.

There were more than one single, I agree. I really enjoy The Cult, even though most of there songs sound the same. By the way, I don't recall any hits on the "Electric" release.

1 She Sells Sanctuary

2 Fire Woman

3 Ceremony

4 Sweet Soul Sister

Hi PB-

Hits on the "Electric" album include the excellent songs Wild Flower and Love Removal Machine plus others. Fantastic driving CD if you have a quality audio system in your car.

None of these song mean a thing to me, but there are plenty of songs from an earlier generation that ought to be revived. Let's see... here are half a dozen.

Hortense, Queen of the Swamp Lillies {OK, that's pretty old :-) }
Hooty Sapperticker (by the unforgettable Barbara and the Boys)
We're Just a Couple of Frozen Embryos
Waltz me around again, Willie
Mairsie Doats
Star Trekkin'

I didn't think anyone else ever heard Fantasy. I loved that song!

Course I am an 80's music junkie.

Gawd. What an awful song.

I'm nit-picking, but that song was released in the 70s.

Gary Newman...there's a neat story.

His one dream was to become an instructor pilot. So, using his musical talents, he did the song "Cars" (which made him a mint) and used that to finance his dream.

Mr. Newman is now one of the top avaition instructors AND aerobatic pilots in Britain!

My Sharona was the theme music for a conservative talk show about ten years ago. For some research project, I acquired a number of tapes of broadcasts. It was maddening to listen to them. You had to listen to My Sharona every ten minutes.

Gaaaaah!
