"Stop all the Freebies and replace them with Punishments. "

Men don't leave their family and homes; and risk death trekking across the desert just to get free emergency room care.

That will stop when we are up to our a** with illegals. Then it still won't stop. It is a no-win situation. More will breed more, etc.

"As an Army vet, I'm against placing soldiers on the border because the Commander in Chief is the President."

President Woodrow Wilson ordered the Army to man the Mexican border. It's nothing new.

They will if they have an incurable disease or are pregnant. We are sending a signal for them to come.

Same way. 5K a pop if they wish to stay. Want to come here and have babies; sure put up $10K one for the mom, one for the kid.
If they do something that exceeds their bonds they are persona non grata; deportation begins if they do stupid things and are not here to work. If they are working; it may take a few years of labor to save to bond out the rest of the family, but it would be doable. They would have a stake in being law abiding and healthy, and it would be less expensive to transition to being a "legal immigrant" allow them time to do the paperwork, medicals and background investigations that are done with the legals.

The point is if they come and want to stay they pay their way either out of pocket or their employer.

That would be the incentive to participate fish/cut bait.

Another way would be to put a 30% tax on all money transfers under $5k out of the US without some sort of citizenship documentation. This would be another incentive to be legal and get documented.

Get your documents, post your bond, allow free travel for the documented through established ports of entry.

Smuggling? -C ya you or your employer just lost/forfeited $5000 no questions asked.

Want to go home, no problem, show me your bond card if you want back in.

Taxing the hell out of Postal Money orders and Money Orders and Bank transfers under $5000 would put an end real quick to the illegals.

And you could use a Visa/MC type card to track them.

"for the huge manpower increases that would be required for the military to perform this mission while also fighting the war on terror around the world? "

I don't believe that it will take "huge manpower increases" to do this. Bring our troops home from Germany, Bosnia, Serbia, and God only knows where else- where they really aren't needed. Besides that source, there will soon be many base closings- freeing up many.

So far I like your ideas. Let me sleep on them because I do see some problems such as "Taxing the hell out of Postal Money orders and Money Orders and Bank transfers under $5000 would put an end real quick to the illegals."

All they need to do is mail Momma a debit Card and the transfers aren't necessary.

The border can not be sealed.

Sure it can be. One-mile deep minefields are well within our budget and technical know how. All we lack is the political will.

Which is what we'll have if one of our cities vaporizes, or a kindergarten is massacred, and the American people find out the perps came over from Mexico.

Sensible people are demanding that we not wait for such a fatal and tragic circumstance.

Just like water finds its own level, so will immigration. As long as we need more workers more will come. When all the jobs are filled they will stop.

That's fine as long as the foreigners who fill those jobs are the ones who entered the United States legally. Accepting the argument that these foreign workers are actually needed, we should let in more LEGAL immigrants while cracking down hard on companies that hire ILLEGAL immigrants.

>>How about a $5,000 bond to work in the US?<<

>>12 Million $5000.00 = 60 Billion a year. If they get sick or go to jail they forfeit the bond, and that money would pay for the deportation, hospital and jail. They work without trouble, lawbreaking etc; they pay Federal, State, Local taxes and keep the bond.<<

I think the employer should be required to guarantee through insurance, all costs that might arise from hiring an illegal because one stupid error and $5 grand won't cover the mistake. Examples, a car wreck, $5k will hardly pay the bill to replace a front bumper today. The medical costs of a broken leg requiring surgery is over $5k.

>>Make them get medicals and some sort of ID, then they could also get drivers licenses. They must pay the smugglers that much to get into the CONUS as it is. <<

>>Employers could fund it with the same rules- it gets forfeited to the Feds if they break the law, sick, etc.<<

>>The Feds could use it to pay the deficit.<<

Id rather see it forfeited to the State.

If the illegals want equal treatment, they have to act as law abiding citizens.

After a couple of hours sleep, I have decided overall that I don't like the idea because it amounts to a "selling of America." Finish the paperwork on the people who are trying to emigrate legally and allow them into America.

Lawbreakers who are already here shouldn't be able to buy their way out of trouble. The idea just sticks in my craw. I can see where employers would start abusing these people saying, "do it or I'll cancel your insurance." That reeks of perverted slavery and/or indentured servants. Just bring the standards back up to where they should be and do it right.

Good test for the 2nd Ammendment. Calling up the National Guard undermines the word Militia and gives the lefties more ground.

I would be willing to serve.

"...minefields... "

Then terrorists wouldn't have to smuggle bombs into the U.S. All they would need is a cheap metal detector and you would have provided them with an unlimited supply of bombs to plant in kindergarten playgrounds.

By the way, have you expressed your appreciation to President Bush for preventing any terrorists attacks on America since 9/11?
