DES MOINES, IA - Rep. Steve King, R- Iowa, called Friday for deploying the military to seal the borders against illegal immigration, coupled with new financial penalties for companies that hire illegals.

"The destination of America is going to be shaped alot by immigration policy," said King, who said he will introduce legislation "in the next several weeks."

"Loyal Americans insist on protecting American sovereignty, secure borders, and the preservation of American culture, customs, traditions and language."

I agree wholeheartedly.

I think that all illegal aliens and their offspring, no matter how many generations removed, should be expelled from America, and executed if they attempt to resist said expulsion.

Just out of curiousity, what tribe are you from? I'm Kumeyaay.

Do you oppose Representative King's plan to introduce legislation that cracks down on employers who avail themselves of illegal workers?

If country invaders were treated like home invaders, and shot, the invasion would soon slow to a trickle. Potential invaders would hear of the dangers, and find legal ways to enter, or would try to make a life for themselves in their own countries.

Extreme, yeah. But it should be done. Defend our borders not just with bodies, but with weapons.

"There is no guarantee that they would ever obtain permanent legal status in the U.S.

There are 12 millon illegals in America. They are not going away, they are a vital part of our economy. We had best figure out a way to "regularize" their status, and I think President Bush;'s propsal is very enlightened."

You of course contradict yourself as does the president. How many of those 12mil (low estimate) would not be granted permanent residency and/or deported? You yourself recognize they arent going anywhere. Thus, AMNESTY. Nice try koolaid drinker.

Representative King, have you voted for the huge manpower increases that would be required for the military to perform this mission while also fighting the war on terror around the world?<<<<<<

Don't need them....We the People SHALL form a legal, formal, Militia, if required.

Trying to seal the border is a useless exercise in wasteful spending. Only token efforts will ever be made, and only to appease a small but vocal group that doesn't recognize the futility of the exercise.<<<<<

"small but vocal" groups brought us abortion, removed prayers from schools and public activities, gay marriage..and it's small but vocal groups who wish to keep illegals on the USA public support system.

Only because you're talking about step C. I'm asking about step A.

Answer the question.

Because there is no doubt Rep. King will support step C when A is accomplished...

Sure.

You going to guard 2,000 miles of US-Mexican border for free?

You changed the subject from the topic of this thread. So you've conceded my original argument--that this guy hasn't supported the increased manpower his pet mission will require.

Generating economic efficiency by subverting our Constitution and the laws of our Nation, I don’t think so fella. What then separates a business person and the corner street thug? By your thoughts, not much.

OK, has Representative King voted for the huge manpower increases that would be required for the National Guard to perform this mission, and the massive amounts of money needed to call the National Guard into federal service indefinitely?

Every NG unit could do its two week annual training on the southern border.

"Every NG unit could do its two week annual training on the southern border."

Yeah, sure. If every NG unit did its training on the border, at the same time, you'd have enough manpower on hand for two weeks.

The problem is that there are FIFTY-two weeks in a year. And chaining every national guard unit in the country to the Mexican border means that we will be unable to fight a war anywhere else.

Let's just build a 20 ft tall cement, barbed wire fence and be done with it once and for all.

52 weeks in a year means 26 annual training periods. I'm fairly certain that there are at least 26 brigade sized elements in the National Guard. A brigade can cover a lot of frontage, although certainly not the whole border. Nonetheless, 132 Bradley Fighting Vehicles roaming up and down the border would certainly be a deterrent.

It isn't the National Guard's job to fight wars anywhere else. Defense of the borders of the US is one of the Guard's stated, mandated missions. The Guard has been misused for the last 25 years as the backup for the active duty.

"52 weeks in a year means 26 annual training periods. I'm fairly certain that there are at least 26 brigade sized elements in the National Guard."

You're saying that the National Guard musters almost NONE FULL DIVISIONS?

The regular army is ten divisions.

"A brigade can cover a lot of frontage, although certainly not the whole border."

Then they'll just go around.

Cover the whole damn border, or you're just making the problem for someone else.

"Nonetheless, 132 Bradley Fighting Vehicles roaming up and down the border would certainly be a deterrent."

Until they throw tracks and break torsion bars near where I live. The terrain on much of the border is lousy if you're a track-toad.

Nope, you're going to need a lot of men, and you're going to need them full-time.

Hey, I have an even better idea: why don't we just spray the entire border region with VX?
