I am occasionally skeptical of the motives that drive the ACLU, but then they defend Rush Limbaugh's medical records as a matter of personal privacy.
I find that, like many things, people, and parties, there are both good and bad points to their agenda.

The ACLU's single purpose is to destroy this country and turn it into a Socialist hell. If you can't see the reality of the ACLU's actions, then you really need to do some serious and extensive reading.

Glass is half empty:
Their goal is to push the country to the left. They pick battles that they are confident that they can win (areas with liberal judges) and occasionally fight for the rights of those on the right so that they don't appear to be pushing the left's agenda.

Yes, and a few years ago the mantra of the left in defending the ACLU was:
But they defended the Nazi's in Skokie.
So in the entire history of the ACLU there are two cases that everyone proclaims and point to to say they are a neutral group. 12,489 to 2 does not make them neutral.

If you noticed, their public pronouncement of supporting Rush created a whole stir in the MSM and liberal establishment, which mis-identified Rush as a drug abuser and criminal.
They had an agenda and used the right to privacy to slam Rush.

The disdain for the ACLU ranks along the disgust for lawyers in general.
Until, of course, the moment you are in need of them.
However much you may dislike them, their ability to protect those who have no voice is the true purpose of lawyers.
Unfortunately, there are too few lawyers who have the willingness or experience to engage in the constitutional issues involved.
Partly, of course, because it doesn't pay.
I, for one, am seriously seeking involvement of the ACLU on my little island. This place is worse than 'bama in the fifties. And if ANYONE on freerepublic believes state action without Federal oversight is a good thing, perhaps I should rethink my involvement..

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
The ACLU is 99.99% wrong. Its record of being on the right side is so miniscule it doesn't change a thing.
