I am occasionally skeptical of the motives that drive the ACLU, but then they defend Rush Limbaugh's medical records as a matter of personal privacy.
I find that, like many things, people, and parties, there are both good and bad points to their agenda.

Dual standard apparent in ACLU action on Koran
To the editor: As I read about the most recent ``scandal'' out of the War on Terror, I was struck by the fact that the American Civil Liberties Union seems to be taking an active role on behalf of our prisoners at Guantanamo. The ACLU seems outraged that the Koran was ``kicked, thrown to the floor and withheld as punishment.'' We have also heard much about the alleged ``outrageous'' act of flushing the Koran down a toilet.
Isn't this the same ACLU that so vigorously defends our right to burn and defame the American flag? Isn't this the very same ACLU that abhors Christian and Jewish decorations in town squares all over America? Is this the same ACLU that is vigorously defending the right of a University of Colorado professor to call the victims of the 9/11 attacks ``Little Eichmanns'' while retaining his position as an employee and representative of the university? I think we all well recognize this specific brand of doubletalk and hypocrisy as belonging to our own beloved ACLU.
Who is paying for these copies of the Koran at Guantanamo anyway? I can guarantee you that the Gideons haven't been invited, so I can only assume that somehow our tax dollars have been ``respecting an establishment of religion.'' If this is the case, then the ACLU should petition the federal government to seize these illbegotten perks from the prisoners. Maybe the ACLU could use them then as fire starter upon which they could later heap American flags.

I just watched an internet video report on war crimes trial in The Hague including executions of prisoners. I watched and wondered why the ACLU is so pumped up to see Abu Grahb videos and Amnesty Intl. is crying over Gitmo. These groups are really pathetic and the American people would know it if the MSM showed stuff like that and we saw REAL atrocities.

Defund the ACLU and it will be de-fanged automatically. Money makes that engine run. Without OUR tax dollars pouring into its coffers, it will be neutered.
