Kerry Touts Bush Impeachment Memo
Failed presidential candidate John Kerry said Thursday that he intends to confront Congress with a document touted by critics of President Bush as evidence that he committed impeachable crimes by falsifying evidence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
"When I go back (to Washington) on Monday, I am going to raise the issue," Kerry said, referring to the Downing Street Memo in an interview with Massachusetts' Standard Times newspaper.

"I think it's a stunning, unbelievably simple and understandable statement of the truth and a profoundly important document that raises stunning issues here at home," the top Democrat added. The Downing Street Memo, first reported on May 1 by the London Times, was drafted by a Matthew Rycroft, a foreign policy aide to Prime Minister Tony Blair. It is said to be minutes of a July 2002 meeting where Blair allegedly admitted that the Bush administration "fixed" Iraq intelligence to manufacture a rationale for war.
Citing the Downing Street Memo, former presidential candidate Ralph Nader called for an impeachment investigation on Tuesday in an op-ed piece published by the Boston Globe.
"It is time for Congress to investigate the illegal Iraq war as we move toward the third year of the endless quagmire that many security experts believe jeopardizes US safety by recruiting and training more terrorists," wrote Nader with co-author Kevin Zeese. "A Resolution of Impeachment would be a first step."
The British memo, however, contains no quotes from either Bush or Blair, and is notably slim on evidence implicating Bush in a WMD cover-up.
Though largely ignored in the U.S. outside of rabid anti-Bush web sites like MichaelMoore.com, the Downing Street Memo won Sen. Kerry's endorsement in the Standard Times interview:
"It's amazing to me," the top Democrat said, "the way it escaped major media discussion. It's not being missed on the Internet, I can tell you that."
That's could be a useful quote. Do you have a link or do you know when/where she said it?
That's NOT a real Hillary! quote. I was verbalizing the general attitude of the Democrats and the Left towards the Internet.
I often see people (usually of the Left persuasion and/or the MSM) talking about how you can't trust anything on the Net.
Actually, Hillary! does have a famous quote about the Internet - First Lady: Net News Needs Scrutiny (February, 1998 - just after Drudge dumps the Monica laundry all over the Net).
So, can he actually prove that there was a fix of intelligence, rather then just erroneous intelligence?
The only good that could come of this is perhaps finding out the real reason for invading Iraq, whatever that turns out to be.
There is a thread about it here:

Damn near everybody on the thread thought Rush was out to lunch. I'm sure if I had participated I would have been one of them. But damned if he wasn't right.
Ah, I see.
You're saying it's all a conspiracy.
In 2002, George W Bush was not Governor of Texas.
The Downing Street minutes are dated 2002. That year, it states that "the facts and intelligence were being fixed around the policy" to invade Iraq.
You're from DU aren't you.
Whatever. However since 1998 our policy was to remove Saddam Hussein. The word Fixed has a different meaning in Britain than it does here. Sorry pal nice try..
You're forgetting that the UN recently said that nuclear material was moved in Iraq.
Funny, you just said it wasn't there.
Now, if it wasn't there to begin with, how could it have been moved?
Post and run troll detected.

Ping to the pavers, and VKs.
Meet "Alan Downunder", a post and run troll who just admitted that he thinks the President manipulated the intelligence information on Iraq.
3 posts to his name, all trollish in nature.
His second post is quite.. interesting and insightful into his intellect.
Does this guy actually do his job he was elected for or just shoot his mouth off while he travels around the country on tax payers dime? Hummm, I thing Mr. Kerry needs to be removed.
You seem to have come to a conclusion, both in your mind and here it would seem.
Well, it's Friday and Kerry didn't speak in the senate all week.................
I can tell you're just as shocked as I am..
LOL.
He's the same gutless gigolo he's always been.
Thanks!
Different subject, Oxen, did you happen to watch the live hearing on C-span2---
It was supposed to be a hearing about the Patriot Act--with Sensenbrenner as Chairman...
The witnesses were all from lib groups, Amnesty International, Immigration lawyers assoc., James Zogby and another woman...
Anyway, all of the questions by the dems, was about Gitmo, and general torture policies of the US...
Sensenbrenner was cutting off reps. and witnesses, right in the middle of sentences to keep to the 5 minute time limit....all of the dems were getting mad and boisterous..
After all the reps had had one chance to ask a question, Sensenbrenner said that it was, in his opinion, no longer reasonable to continue the hearing, because none of what they had discussed had anything to do with the Patriot Act, because Gitmo, Abu Ghraib etc., doesn't fall under the pervue of the Patriot Act...then he said, because of that he was calling the hearing to a close....
WOW--all the dems Sheila Jackson Lee, Jerry Nadler, John Conyers...got mad and kept talking even after the reps and Sensenbrenner left the hearing room...
OF course, c-span kept covering it---those that were left are their darlings....
Sorry about leaving the subject matter...just didn't know where else to post my observations on this mornings hearing..
the little one has a dead battery or something. I'll try this one.
