The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Threat Matrix - Daily Terrorism Threat
Threat Matrix: U.S. Terrorism
Expert: Al-Qaida Has Presence In South Florida
Full Story

MIRAMAR, Fla. -- Despite the massive federal, state and local law enforcement effort to stop terrorists from entering the United States, there is no strong evidence of how well it is working.

Many experts are concerned that there are plenty of terrorists or sympathizers already in the country who have been here for years. Some are even citizens.

The Sept. 11, 2001, hijackers were the first wave and now the increasing number of arrests seems to signal a second wave of terrorism in South Florida.

~~~~STARTS?????~~~~
It's as if the TSA and other government agencies are operating in slow motion and haven't been officially notified there are terrorists, spies and evildoorers lurking among us. It's the same mentality that prevents us from true terrorist screening at airports. Heaven forbid a foreigner or suspicious person gets upset with being asked questions or subjected to additional screening!
Thanks for the book link Davey. Appreciate it. Books so enrich us with thoughts and ideas. The plot of "The Camp of the Saints" does sound provocative.
It WILL happen. The 'leaders' (AKA politicians) do not care out our wellbeing - only our money which they spend with reckless abandon. While it will come back to haunt them, it will get a whole bunch of us killed and even more incapacitated.
Very true A_D. If our politicians* gave one rip about us, we'd have border protection 24/7 and illegals would be in hiding all over this country, knowing they were on their way home one way or the other. How many expired visa hearings with no one showing up for them? These people are here illegally and some of them hate us with a passion. Some have publicly acknowledged that hatred at our nation's universities and mosques.
It's great communities are conducting mock attacks and bio-chemical drills, but what about the majority of citizens who are not in law enforcement or the medical field and who have not participated in such mock events? How prepared are they and does anyone in politics care that they aren't? If traumatized citizens attempt to escape a horrific scene, the chances of increased mortality, violence and chaos will be overwhelming. No textbook for that; no public exercise to cover such a disaster. Only our own coping and preparatory skills (including self-defense) will keep us alive in that scenario.
*Phenomenal numbers of them next to completely worthless
Yep! Thought that was pretty interesting too. How do they know the occupant of the house would not use it against our troops? (sigh).
This is the old (2002) Ashcroft report on Padilla and his plan to explode a "Dirty Bomb" in the U.S.
June 10, 2002
Statement by U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft on the Arrest of
Abdullah Al Muhajir.
U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft
Transcript from U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft's announcement on June 10, 2002 in Moscow,
Russia, of the capture of a suspected al-Qaida operative who allegedly was planning to explode a
"dirty bomb" in the United States.
I am pleased to announce today a significant step forward in the war on terrorism. We have captured a
known terrorist who was exploring a plan to build and explode a radiological dispersion device, or "dirty
bomb," in the United States.
I commend the FBI, the CIA, the Defense Department and other federal agencies whose cooperation made
this possible.
[Sunday], after consultation with the acting secretary of defense [Donald Rumsfeld] and other senior
officials, both the acting secretary of defense and I recommended that the president of the United States, in
his capacity as commander in chief, determined that Abdullah Al Muhajir, born Jose Padilla, determined that
Muhajir is an enemy combatant who poses a serious and continuing threat to the American people and our
national security.
After the determination, Abdullah Al Muhajir was transferred from the custody of the Justice Department to
the custody of the Defense Department.
Following serving in prison in the United States in the early 1990s, Jose Padilla referred to himself as
Abdullah Al Muhajir. Subsequent to his release from prison, he traveled to Afghanistan and Pakistan. On
several occasions in 2001, he met with senior al Qaeda officials.
While in Afghanistan and Pakistan, Al Muhajir trained with the enemy, including studying how to wire
explosive devices and researching radiological dispersion devices. Al Qaeda officials knew that as a citizen of
the United States, as a citizen of the United States holding a valid U.S. passport, Al Muhajir would be able to
travel freely in the U.S. without drawing attention to himself.
The United States government was tracking Abdullah Al Muhajir when, on May 8, 2002, this year, he flew
from Pakistan into Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, where he was placed in the custody of federal law
enforcement authorities.
In apprehending Al Muhajir as he sought entry into the United States, we have disrupted an unfolding
terrorist plot to attack the United States by exploding a radioactive "dirty bomb."
Now, a radioactive "dirty bomb" involves exploding a conventional bomb that not only kills victims in the
immediate vicinity but also spreads radioactive material that is highly toxic to humans and can cause mass
death and injury.
From information available to the United States government, we know that Abdullah Al Muhajir is an Al
Qaeda operative and was exploring a plan to build and explode a radioactive "dirty bomb."
Let me be clear: We know from multiple independent and corroborating sources that Abdullah Al Muhajir was
closely associated with al Qaeda and that as an al Qaeda operative he was involved in planning future
terrorist attacks on innocent American civilians in the United States.
The safety of all Americans and the national security interests of the United States require that Abdullah Al
Muhajir be detained by the Defense Department as an enemy combatant. In determining that Al Muhajir is
an enemy combatant who legally can be detained by the United States military, we have acted with legal
authority both under the laws of war and clear Supreme Court precedent, which establish that the military
may detain a United States citizen who has joined the enemy and has entered our country to carry out
hostile acts.
Once again, I commend the FBI, the CIA and other agencies involved in capturing Abdullah Al Muhajir before
he could act on his deadly plan. Because of the close cooperation among the FBI, the CIA, Defense
Department and other federal agencies, we were able to thwart this terrorist.
To our enemies, I say we will continue to be vigilant against all threats, whether they come from overseas or
at home in America. To our citizens, I say we will continue to respect the rule of law while doing everything
in our power to prevent terrorist attacks.
Rash of Truck Thefts Plaguing San Joaquin County
The talk among truckers on San Joaquin County highways isn't just about traffic or diesel prices. They're concerned about the rash of truck thefts in the county.
Since the beginning of April, 27 semi truck-trailer rigs have been stolen from truck yards or off the street, according to the California Highway Patrol. Truckers, however, estimate the number is actually closer to 50.
AD, I just got home and read your post.
I tried several search engines and various terms and
couldn't find anything CURRENT about school shootings
during lunch breaks.
What I did find was articles related to:
-gang activity
-cases updated regarding prior school shootings.
-prior alerts regarding terror and school kids.
FYI
"Russian central bank's new data base stolen"
Security Lab - Vedomosti ^
Posted on 06/07/2005 1:12:05 AM PDT by struwwelpeter
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A data base has appeared for sale in Moscow: bank transactions for the 4th quarter of 2004. Salesmen of this illegal data base last week sent emails offering the goods for sale. Within the data can be found even the biggest transaction of past year - the auction sale of 'Yuganskneftegaza', according to the newspaper 'Vedomosti'. Recall that in February of this year one could buy the central bank's data for the last year and a half, from April, 2003 to September, 2004. After this was made public, parliamentary deputies directed a demand to the Attorney General's office, that they take action to stop this leakage of 'classified information', and the Russian central bank conducted an internal investigation of the circumstances of the leak. As it turns out, these measures have yet to produce results.
A copy of the new data base costs on the average 3000 rubels (~100 dollars) with express delivery. Employees from a few companies reported to this paper that their firms' transactions were accurately reflected in the data. Such financial information about market players can be boldly used by competitors.
Plainly visible in the data base are many other operations, including those of the Russian central bank itself, such as its intervention in the currency markets. The central bank's press service refused comment, while official requests for information by 'Vedomosti' went unanswered."
