The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Threat Matrix - Daily Terrorism Threat
Threat Matrix: U.S. Terrorism
Expert: Al-Qaida Has Presence In South Florida
Full Story

MIRAMAR, Fla. -- Despite the massive federal, state and local law enforcement effort to stop terrorists from entering the United States, there is no strong evidence of how well it is working.

Many experts are concerned that there are plenty of terrorists or sympathizers already in the country who have been here for years. Some are even citizens.

The Sept. 11, 2001, hijackers were the first wave and now the increasing number of arrests seems to signal a second wave of terrorism in South Florida.

If Al Queda has the Nuclear capability and simutantousley
timed bombings across the globe, why did they not use then
today. Are they wimps, I think so, or have they been limited so by our intelligence.

Using nukes is unprecedented. I would think if they have them, they would only use them when they thought it could deal a fatal blow.

I agree, I just think they screwed up because most of
American has become bind and complacence. They could
have used them this morning. If they want to beet 9/11 it would take a global attack I thought would happen today
but it did not. I just want to know what others think.

Getting into the terrorist mind: "They're almost ripe for the next attack, but there are still a few who are not back to sleep yet."

Not long ago I recollect a statement about there being no evidence of sleeper cells in the US. Guess we can all rest easier comtemplating that statement?

No evidence of active sleeper cells in US

Sleeper cells awake in London

I see EOM is back. I know EOM has been discredited in the past. This might be the same EOM or a different one.

Back from Arlington. No unusual activity seen.

I remember well the reports we've seen about the next wave starting in London.

We should all have our 3 day kits in cars or offices. Ladies should have comfortable shoes in case long walks are necessary.

Bottom Line: Be Prepared.

Continuing prayers for the victims and their families.

Continuing curses for the cowardly perpetrators of this barbaric act of senseless violence.

OPINION-SPECULATION:

Terrorism is global.
Terrorists vary as to
their weapons of choice.

I would like to hope that
intelligence from snitches
and captured terrorists is
turning over a lot of good
information.

That could be what's stopping
the terrorists. So many have
been captured or killed in battle.

Just like hell is never full; there's
always room in prison/jail/Gitmo, etc.
for more terrorists.

~~~The U.S. says that China is developing electronics in two years that should take ten or more......an interesting report.~~~
All of these electronics are a far cry from the days of the old Japanese transister radios we carried around as teenagers. Who'd have thought.....
Public Transit Systems Tough to Protect
The Associated Press
WASHINGTON Jul 7, 2005 — Subway systems are inviting targets for terrorists because they are difficult to secure.
The kind of screening equipment used to check passengers at airports can't be used because it's too slow for systems designed to quickly move large numbers of people.
"Mass transportation systems will always be vulnerable to some extent if we want to keep them as efficient as they are today," said Rafi Ron, president of the Washington-based transportation security consulting firm, New Age Security Solutions.
About 29 million people take commuter trains and subways daily in the United States, with the New York City area accounting for about a third of the total, said Alan Pisarski, a Washington-based national transportation policy analyst. The next-largest systems are Chicago, Washington, Boston and Philadelphia. San Francisco has the largest system on the West Coast.
James Carafano, a homeland security expert with the Heritage Foundation think tank, said trains are a tempting target for terrorists because they're so predictable.
"It's very, very easy to do reconnaissance," Carafano said.
Some of the deadliest terrorist attacks since Sept. 11, 2001, have been carried out on subway systems, including Thursday's attack in London that killed at least 40 people.
In Madrid, a railway bombing on March 11, 2004, killed 191 people and injured thousands. A month earlier, an explosion ripped through a subway car in the Moscow subway during rush hour, killing 41 people.
I'd say it's a bit premature to say we have disrupted them so severely that they have scaled back attacks. Still no real word on if the higher ups even knew about this attack, and if they did... there is no way to be sure of the motive of this specific event. It's clearly at least a short term victory to prove that they still have the power to pull something off like this under increased scrutiny.
