The Threat Matrix
The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.
"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."
We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research. |

Expert: Al-Qaida Has Presence In South Florida Full Story
|
MIRAMAR, Fla. -- Despite the massive federal, state and local law enforcement effort to stop terrorists from entering the United States, there is no strong evidence of how well it is working. Many experts are concerned that there are plenty of terrorists or sympathizers already in the country who have been here for years. Some are even citizens. The Sept. 11, 2001, hijackers were the first wave and now the increasing number of arrests seems to signal a second wave of terrorism in South Florida. "THE CHINA THREAT --
WHERE'S THE RESPONSE?"
JULY 7, 2005
By Toby Westerman
Copyright 2005 International News Analysis Today
www.inatoday.com
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "As the threat of China's power grows, the U.S. cannot depend on help from Russia to act as a counterbalance against Beijing. Following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the idea was advanced that Moscow would need American assistance in halting China's expansion into Russian territory. The belief was that the "new" Russia would gladly join with the United States against a projected expansion of Chinese power into Russian territory.
This optimistic foreign policy assessment was shattered when Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Hu Jintao met in Moscow in late June. Not only did Putin and Hu settle old border disputes, but also proclaimed their mutual cooperation in regional and international affairs, and prepared the way for the upcoming Sino-Russian military exercises."

Authorities say at least 50 illegal immigrants were picked up Wednesday at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base."
ARTICLE SNIPPET #2: "Wednesday's arrests were not the first time a local group of illegal immigrants have been arrested in North Carolina this year. Your India article could be written with the names changed to American names and it would still be true.
There are more communists running for office than there are real Americans.

"China pastor on trial over Bibles"
BBC ^ | 7/6/05
Posted on 07/06/2005 10:53:44 PM PDT by Crackingham
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The leader of an underground Chinese church is due to appear in a Beijing court on Thursday, accused of illegally printing more than 200,000 Bibles. Cai Zhuohua, along with his wife and two other church members, has been charged with "illegal business practices", his lawyers have said.
The Protestant pastor has already been in detention for 10 months.
Although Bibles are not illegal in China, only one firm is permitted by the state to print them.
The country's Christians are also only allowed to worship in state-approved churches, although many people prefer to attend underground or "house" churches such as Pastor Cai's."

This is a good site to find nuclear news, I do not agree with the slant they have, but have found over the years that if it is nuclear, they will find it. This jumped out at me, as the nuclear waste will go down Highway 93 or 68, less than a half mile from where I sit. granny http://nucnews.net/nucnews/2004nn/0411nn/041105nn.htm#071 -------- terrorism Report: Terrorists prowling Yucca site? November 05, 2004 (UPI) http://www.washtimes.com/upi-breaking/20041105-113306-1471r.htm Las Vegas, NV, Nov. 5 -- Terrorists may have been nosing around the Web site for the Yucca Mountain project, possibly planning for a raid on radioactive waste shipments. KLAS-TV, Las Vegas, said some experts suspect al-Qaida or some other terrorist group has been exploring the possibility of someday intercepting such a shipment and either destroying it or stealing the material for use in a radioactive dirty bomb. KLAS said a volunteer group that monitors radical Islamic Internet activity noticed a Hamas Web site included a link to the State of Nevada's site, which in turn led to a report on Yucca Mountain, the location of a planned national repository for nuclear waste. One of the volunteers said it was concluded the site's description of the elaborate safety measures that would surround shipments of waste was being perused. KLAS said federal Homeland Security officials asked the state to remove the Yucca report; however, state officials denied such a request had been made. ---- Islamic site links to Nevada info November 05, 2004 LAS VEGAS SUN By Jace Radke http://www.lasvegassun.com/sunbin/stories/sun/2004/nov/05/517780683.html?yucca%20mountain%20nuclear%20waste%20repository An Islamic Web site points out that the state of Nevada Web site includes information about routes that nuclear waste might take to Yucca Mountain, according to an unclassified FBI threat assessment released to the Nevada Homeland Security Commission and the public last week. KLAS Channel 8 Thursday night highlighted that a state site includes a report about how terrorists could target nuclear waste shipments to Yucca Mountain as "dirty bombs." That information is part of Nevada's argument against the proposed nuclear waste repository. FBI officials say plenty of possible security threats can be found on the Internet. Daniel DeSimone, FBI supervisory special agent for the Nevada Regional Intelligence Center, showed commissioners a six-inch stack of information about federal buildings, monuments and other possible targets all pulled from various Internet sites. "There is information out there that anyone can get," DeSimone said, adding that Web sites for military entities, such as U.S. Northern Command, in charge of homeland defense, provide some of the information. Adjutant Gen. Giles Vanderhoof, the commander of the Nevada National Guard and state homeland security adviser, said that there has to be a balance between a free society and security concerns. "We can't let ourselves become so security crazy that we diminish our freedoms because that's what we love about this country," Vanderhoof said. "We want to keep things as safe as possible, but we don't want to turn into a police state." Vanderhoof said he is very aware of the amount of information available on the Internet, but said that routes for nuclear waste to Yucca Mountain are not something that could be easily hidden. "There are several ways for the waste to get here if Yucca Mountain happens, but most of the routes are pretty obvious," Vanderhoof said. "If Yucca Mountain happens I think we'll see some different security measures in place, maybe varying the times of shipments." Special Agent Todd Palmer, spokesman for the Las Vegas office of the FBI, said that agents do look at what is on the Internet, but added that there are massive amounts of information available on the web. Dr. Dale Carrison, chairman of the state homeland security commission, agreed that the information is out there, and said that the focus needs to be on protecting the details of security plans. "You could probably go on the Internet and print out a 1,000-page packet that details how every hotel in town was built," Carrison said. "It's the age-old conflict that if you are going to have a democracy you are going to give up some security. "People need to know that we have security plans in place, to test drinking water for example. They need to know that we are testing it, but its the details about how we are going about it that need to stay secret." Vanderhoof said that there is a classified level of information that he sees that details how different terrorist targets in Nevada are being protected that is kept out of public view. Still, floor plans and layouts of Las Vegas hotel-casinos and convention centers, as well as the route of the Las Vegas Monorail can all be found online. Even the FBI's threat assessment lists several possible terrorist targets and how effective an attack on these targets would be. The assessment notes that the Las Vegas Strip, Hoover Dam, the state capital in Carson City, the Fallon Naval Air Station, the U.S. Army's ammunition dump in Hawthorne and mining sites are all considered to be areas of concern by the FBI. The intersection of U.S. 95 and Interstate 15, also known as the Spaghetti Bowl, the I-15 corridor between Las Vegas and Southern California and the Las Vegas Monorail are also noted as possible targets. "Any attack on either of these highway systems would paralyze Southern Nevada by shutting off the major routes of transportation," the assessment states about I-15 and U.S. 95. "This would in turn affect surrounding states including California, Arizona and Utah." Palmer said the classified version of the assessment continues other details, including investigative methods and sources that are kept secret. Gary Peck, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada, said that there is a delicate balancing between the public's right to know and security concerns. "We are advocates for open government and the flow of information, because bringing sunshine to how government works is essential to a democracy," Peck said. "In this post 9/11 world that has to be balanced with security concerns."

I have glanced at this page, but it has several reports, they managed to shut down a military base in England, part of the G-8 meeting.
Something about the guards at the Tenn. nuclear facilities.
And this, which reminded me of another story of a few months ago.
It talks of China buying nuclear material in Canada, that the price is now $10.00 a pound and will soon be $30.
The other article that I found, talked of the fact that China had bought the mining companies in Canada.
For the last 25 years, Canada has been buying up the mines here in Mohave County. Almost nothing has sold in Arizona and Nevada that did not sell to a Canadian mining company.
I haven't talked to a miner in several years, but as I recall the largest purchaser was something like Noranda.
In the beginning, Noranda bought small properties to possibly work, I know a man who sold them several.
Then as the years went by, the properties got larger and were still not worked, just talked about.
A few months ago, a report said the China now owned Noranda.
Our ore here is Molybelendem, copper, lead and zinc. Very little gold and sometimes a lot of silver.
There are areas that do contain the "rare Earths" in amounts that are worth working. I do not have much knowledge on the rare earths, except to have an idea of where they were last mined and when I hear the names, know some of them.
The lead and zinc make the ore a difficult to process ore, in the old days cyanide was used.
Guess I have forgotten more than I recall on mining, but then I haven't been to one in 10 years........LOL
I did not like knowing that China owned all the mining companies in the area and now wants to own our gasoline company too.
Feels like the vice is being tightened and we are in the middle.

CBS radio news just said that there is a second subway, 4 miles away that had a blast 45 minutes after the first.
Someone said the first could be electrical, but the headline that I first saw and the radio said 'explosion', i can't open the site with the article.
Radio says there are deaths.
