"Wanted Terrorist Surrenders"
Arab News ^ | 2 July 2005 | Abdul Ghafour

Posted on 07/01/2005 9:27:47 PM PDT by mdittmar

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A wanted militant whose name has appeared on a list of 36 terror suspects surrendered to Saudi security authorities yesterday amid press reports three others on the same list had died in Iraq.

The Interior Ministry confirmed that Fayez Ibrahim Ayub, who is No. 29 on the list, had surrendered to authorities after returning from abroad yesterday “to explain his true position,” the Saudi Press Agency quoted a ministry official as saying.

The official said Ayub’s family would be allowed to meet him and his surrender would be taken into consideration while looking into his case. “Normal measures will be taken to ascertain his position,” he added.

Press reports, meanwhile, said three men on the list — Saudi Faris Abdullah Al-Dhahiry Al-Harbi, Chadian Noor Mohamed Moussa and Saudi Ali Mater Al-Osaimi — had been killed fighting alongside insurgents in Iraq. Al-Harbi is reported to have died in a suicide operation in November last year. The Saudi government has not yet confirmed the reports.

Also yesterday, one of the imams of the Grand Mosque in Makkah called upon terrorists in the Kingdom to surrender to authorities and repent for their mistakes in order to end the bloodbath among Muslims.

Delivering his Friday sermon, Sheikh Saleh ibn Mohamed Al-Taleb expressed deep sorrow over the killings of Muslims in the land of the two holy mosques. “Is it not time to end this bloodbath?” he asked."

At Large
"Where Al Qaeda Is King"
By Christopher Orlet
Published 7/1/2005 12:06:01 AM

ARTICLE SNIPPET: ""The unluckiest man is he who rides the lion or rules Yemen," goes the Yemeni proverb.

That may have been the case before Ali Abdullah Saleh came to power 27 years ago, but today fortune smiles broadly on the Yemeni president (apparently president for life). Abdullah Saleh is both an ally of the U.S. and Osama bin Laden. He is considered a pro-Western democrat while simultaneously providing refuge for terrorists.

But then one might also make the case that al Qaeda actually rules Yemen."

"Austin Bergstrom Airport Police Investigate Suspicious Package"

ASSOCIATED PRESS

AUSTIN (AP) --

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Police later determined the package, which was found abandoned by a security employee about 8:15 a.m. at a United curbside check-in, contained a homemade model airplane refueler, said airport spokeswoman Leslie Schneiweiss.

The package included a battery, battery pack, pump and a container to hold fuel, she said.

''So, obviously, that caused reason for suspicion,'' she said. ''They don't know who left it or why it was left.''"

"Truck chase ends at airport
Man drove past planes before smashing into fences"

Friday, July 1, 2005; Posted: 10:43 a.m. EDT (14:43 GMT)

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "(CNN) -- A man who led police on a freeway chase in Phoenix, Arizona, was apprehended Thursday after driving onto the taxiway at the city's Sky Harbor airport and crashing a pickup truck through two fences, officials said.

Sgt. Randy Force of the Phoenix Police Department said officers shot at the suspect in two separate incidents during the chase, but the man was not hurt.

He was slightly injured when police vehicles hit the allegedly stolen truck to finally bring it to a stop, Force said, but is being treated and will soon be released to police custody.

The sergeant said the man will be booked "on a number of charges."

The incident began when a man who left his truck running at a gas station reported the vehicle stolen, Force said."

Supreme Court's refusal to hear case upholds decision"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Prayers in the name of Jesus will no longer be offered at council meetings in a small South Carolina town after the Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal of a case brought by a Wiccan.

The high court's decision this week not to take the case effectively upheld a 2004 appeals court decision barring prayers at town council meetings in Great Falls, reported The Herald of Rock Hill, S.C."

I am so freakin' angry right now after hearing the rock group Green Day sing a song apparently called American Idiot (Don't Want to be An American Idiot) in Berlin as part of Live8.

All I could hear from the demon lead singer was Don't Want to be An American Idiot.....effin' bleep...bleep....curse...curse...redneck agenda....propaganda....bleep..bleep....curse..curse.

Why didn't VH-1 just leave the damn curses in too since the entire song was a massive affront to America anyway. Or, better yet, bleep out the phrase "American Idiot" along with the curses. I have no problem with free speech, but, sorry, VH-1 you effin' goofed. This was not the venue to hear Americans trashed in our own living rooms.

Thank you VH-1. You made my effin'...bleep...bleep...curse...curse day. Once upon a time, I respected you when you were an American outfit with an allegiance to America. But I guess that is not fashionable anymore.
