I think there are a lot of French/Islamic sites since so many Middle Easterners and Muslims worldwide speak French. Osama himself has been known to communicate online in Arabic, Farsi, French, and English. It was the mark of an educated Arab from OBL's generation to know French. The primary second language among educated Middle Easterners used to be French, but nowadays it's more often English.
Many Arabs use French or English as their preferred language on the Internet since it's easier than transposing their complicated Arabic characters onto the computer, and it's also easier than dealing with all the different Arabic dialects.
Thanks penguino.

Yep, you're right.
Yep, jihadis get your walkmans and no one will know what you're about.
Baghdad, 17 June (AKI) - The group of Jordanian militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, al-Qaeda's pointman in Iraq, launched a scathing attack on the Al-Jazeera satellite TV network on Thursday. A message posted to several Islamic websites read: "Al-Jazeera television besmirches the image of the mujahadeen in the eyes of its viewers, using the language of the United States." It is signed by Abu Maysira al-Iraqi.
"We have had enough of al-Jazeera's bias - and of the efforts you make to kowtow to the crusaders and the traitor government (of Iraq). Publicise the fact that you sit on the fence, why your channel is the mouthpiece of the Americans, and that you do not transmit the true words of the mujahadeen," the message continued.
"Your systematic distortion of the image of the mujahadeen is nothing more than an attempt to discredit us. Your brothers at al-Qaeda's information division in Iraq will continue to tell the truth and broadcast it," the message said.
Earlier this year, al-Zarqawi's Tawhid and Jihad terror formation posted a similar website message condemning al-Jazeera's rival, the Dubai-based al-Arabiya TV.

CONVICTED PAKISTANI ARMS TRAFFICKER ARRESTED AGAIN ON NEW ARMS EXPORT CHARGES
LOS ANGELES A Pakistani national convicted of illegally exporting HAWK missile parts to Iran nearly 20 years ago made his initial appearance in federal court here today to face new charges that he has illegally exported components for U.S.-fighter jet engines, announced Michael J. Garcia, the Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Arif Ali Durrani, 55, arrived at Los Angeles International Airport yesterday aboard a flight from Mexico City en route to Pakistan. Upon his arrival, special agents from ICE arrested Durrani pursuant to a sealed indictment and arrest warrant issued in the Central District of California in May 1999. The indictment against Durrani resulted from an extensive investigation by ICE agents in Oxnard, California that began in 1993.
The indictment, which was unsealed at his court appearance today, charges Durrani with two counts of violating the Arms Export Control Act. Specifically, the indictment alleges that Durranis now defunct company, Lonestar Aerospace in Ventura, California, illegally exported more than 100 compressor blades for the General Electric J-85 military aircraft engine to foreign customers in 1994.
The J-85 military aircraft engine is the primary power source for the F-5E Tiger II fighter jet and the U.S. T-38 Talon trainer aircraft. The compressor blades for this engine are classified as defense articles by the United States, making their export subject to strict controls.
By law, anyone attempting to export U.S. defense articles must be registered with the State Departments Office of Defense Trade Controls and must apply for and receive a license or other approval for export of the defense articles. The indictment alleges that Durrani exported these defense articles without the required license or approval from the State Department.
Durrani once again stands accused of illegally exporting American military components. By arresting illegal arms dealers, particularly those with a history of selling U.S. military hardware to state sponsors of terrorism, ICE is helping to keep sensitive U.S. weapons technology from falling into the wrong hands, said Michael J. Garcia, Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Todays case marks the second time that ICE agents have arrested Durrani on arms export violations.
In October 1986, ICE agents in Connecticut arrested Durrani on charges that he had illegally exported U.S. defense articles without the required State Department license. Specifically, Durrani was accused of illegally exporting guidance systems for the HAWK anti-aircraft missile from the United States to Iran.
At trial, Durrani unsuccessfully argued that his actions were part of a U.S. government-sanctioned covert operation in connection with the Iran-Contra affair. Among other claims, Durrani alleged that his illegal arms shipments to Iran were authorized by Lt. Colonel Oliver North, the former National Security Council aide.
On April 2, 1987, a federal jury in Connecticut found Durrani guilty on three counts of violating the Arms Export Control Act and the accompanying International Traffic in Arms Regulations in connection with his illegal exports. Durrani was subsequently barred by the State Department from exporting any defense articles from the United States.
Durrani served his prison sentence and was released from prison in September 1992. The former U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service then sought to deport Durrani based upon his conviction. In January 1998, Durrani voluntarily left the United States. It is believed that he has been living in Mexico since that time.
Mexican law enforcement officials arrested Durrani on June 12, 2005 for being in Mexico illegally. Durrani was being deported to his native Pakistan when ICE agents met his connecting flight in Los Angeles Wednesday afternoon and took him into custody.
If convicted of the new charges against him, Durrani could face a potential maximum sentence of 20 years incarceration and a $2 million fine. It is important to note that an indictment contains mere allegations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

187 ARRESTED IN MAJOR ICE CRIMINAL ALIEN FUGITIVE OPERATION
ICE and New England law enforcement partners arrest criminals with convictions for violent crimes
BOSTON- Bruce E. Chadbourne, field office director for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in New England, announced today 187 arrests throughout New England capping a weeklong operation targeting alien fugitives, most with criminal convictions for violent crime.
Operation FLASH (Fellow Law-enforcement Agencies Securing the Homeland) is part of an ongoing effort to identify and arrest fugitive criminal aliens that were ordered removed by a Federal Immigration Judge but have failed to comply.
The operation is the largest criminal alien fugitive operation ever conducted at an ICE field office. It was supported by ICE Fugitive Operations teams from six states.
We initiated Operation FLASH to remove dangerous criminal aliens from our streets, said Chadbourne. Criminal aliens have a very high rate of recidivism and often re-victimize the community in which they reside. By finding and removing these fugitives, we are able to greatly enhance the public safety of New England and restore integrity to our nations immigration system.
Many of the fugitives arrested during this operation have a history of violent criminal activity that include rape of a child, rape, arson, assault and battery on a police officer, armed assault, armed robbery, intimidating witnesses and threatening murder. Some examples of those arrested in this operation are:
Carl Brown-Harton, a 42-year-old national of Costa Rica convicted of Threatening Murder, Assault & Battery, Larceny, B&E Nighttime.
Antonio Jesus Fontes, a 53-year-old national of Cape Verde convicted of Assault & Battery, Threatening to Murder
Kimleang Ke, a 31-year-old national of Cambodia convicted of Armed Assault, Possession of a Firearm, Assault & Battery and Robbery.
Omar Trochez-Mejia, a 50-year-old national of Honduras convicted of Assault & Battery Dangerous Weapon.
Stephen Ahlijah, a 45-year-old national of Ghana determined to be a Human Rights Violator
Jose Adelino Tavares, aka Joseph Cabral, a 28-year-old national of Portugal convicted of Assault & Battery on a Police Officer.
Soondar Mahadeo, a 48-year-old national of Trinidad convicted of Assault & Battery Dangerous Weapon, Threatening, Intimidation of Witness.
Operation FLASH is a combined effort between Federal, state, county, and local law enforcement agencies across New England and beyond coming together to locate and apprehend fugitives. Participating agencies included: ICE Fugitive Operations teams from Baltimore, MD; Newark, NJ; New York City, NY, Philadelphia, PA; Hartford, Conn.; Boston, Mass.; Manchester, NH; St. Albans, Vermont; Providence, RI; Portland, Maine; ICEs Boston Office of Investigations, ICEs New England based Federal Protective Service, U.S. Social Security Administration, Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles, Massachusetts State Police Compliance Unit, Barnstable County Sheriffs Department, Bristol County Sheriffs Department, Essex County Sheriffs Department, Plymouth County Sheriffs Department, Boston Police Department, Hartford Conn. Police Department, Connecticut Department of Corrections, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
The arrests made in this operation are a result of ICEs National Fugitive Operations Program (NFOP), which is part of ICEs ongoing effort to restore integrity to the nations immigration system. Last fiscal year, ICE removed a record 160,000 aliens from the country. So far this fiscal year, ICE has removed more than 75,500 aliens from the country, including more than 45,000 criminal aliens.
The aim of the NFOP initiative is to reduce the number of fugitive aliens in the United States. Fugitives are foreign nationals who have been ordered removed by a federal Immigration Judge, but failed to comply with those orders.
Currently, ICE has 16 Fugitive Operations Teams nationwide which are designed to identify, locate, and apprehend fugitive aliens for removal from the United States. The Presidents budget seeks $8.8 million in enhanced funding in FY 2006 to increase the number of Fugitive Operations teams around the country. In fiscal year 2004, there was a 62 percent increase in the number of fugitive aliens apprehended by ICE compared to the previous year.
In addition to the FLASH arrests, ICEs New England Field office arrested 571 fugitive aliens so far this fiscal year. Of the arrests resulting from Operation FLASH, 105 were arrested in Mass., 56 were arrested in Rhode Island, 14 were arrested in Conn., 9 were arrested in New Hampshire, 2 were arrested in Vermont, and one was arrested in Maine. Since these individuals have already been through immigration proceedings, they are subject to immediate removal from the country.

SANE PASTOR HELD CAPTIVE IN MENTAL HOSPITAL IN VIETNAM
Days before the Vietnamese Prime Minister Phan Van Khai travels to North America on a diplomatic mission, news has emerged of a Protestant pastor being held captive in a mental hospital in Vietnam, despite being completely sane.
According to a news release from Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW), the story began when Rev. Than Van Truong of the Baptist General Conference house church organization, wrote some religious articles and sent a number of Bibles as gifts to Vietnam's top officials. He was arrested for "crimes against the state," and imprisoned without trial in May 2003.
After his release, Truong was re-arrested for trying to leave his residence in the south to visit his elderly, sick mother in the far north of Vietnam. CSW reported that officials had not responded to his several requests for permission to visit his mother, which is still required in the communist-run Vietnam.
In Sept. 2004, CSW reported, the public prosecutor of Dong Nai Province diagnosed Truong as "mentally ill and delusional," and he was committed to the Bien Hoa Mental Hospital in Dong Nai Province. Injected with drugs, he was initially lethargic, but after a time his medication was reduced and he improved.
In March 2005, Truong began writing petitions about his case and asking for intervention. Truong's case became well known after visitors to Mennonite prisoner-of-conscience Ms. Le Thi Hong Lien, also committed to the mental hospital, helped bring his situation to light.
Truong's case was initially presented to the European Union, to Canada and the United States, after which some countries engaged in quiet diplomacy on his behalf. A lawyer also agreed to help him. According to CSW, the lawyer obtained an admission from authorities that the criminal investigation had found nothing negative on Truong was closed. He also got an agreement from the hospital to stop giving the pastor unidentified psychotic medications.
The lawyer asked the hospital to give Truong an independent medical examination, and then release him. After an American diplomat tried to visit Truong on May 27, CSW reported, hospital authorities summoned Truong to a "medical examination" the following week.
The "examination," CSW reported, was an interview with about eight people, some of whom were doctors. They reportedly questioned Truong mostly about his religious beliefs and his credentials as a pastor, which his interviewers refused to acknowledge. The director of the hospital, Dr. Tho, led the interview.
During an earlier interview, CSW reported, Tho had confirmed twice to Truong that he was in the mental hospital because he had "committed a crime (and) broken the law," even though the public prosecutor of Dong Nai had confirmed that the investigation against him had found nothing and was closed.
According to Truong, Tho acted more like a law enforcement officer than a doctor.
CSW commented, "In what was apparently sometimes a bizarre argument between several Marxists and a lone Christian that had nothing to do with mental health, the doctors' perspectives dominated the discussion. They decided his firm Christians beliefs and his evangelistic attitude toward them qualified him as being delusional."
During the months prior to this, CSW reported, one doctor at the mental hospital confirmed to Mrs. Truong on a number of occasions that her husband was not suffering from mental problems.
This same doctor reportedly also informed Truong that on three occasions he had recommended a new medical examination, which would have led to his being freed, but hospital authorities had declined because his case involved "religion and politics."
Truong last saw his regular physician on June 10 and fears something may have happened to him, CSW reported. After three weeks of not being given drugs, he was approached that night by another medic and given pills. When he declined to take them, the medic warned him that he would be injected in the morning if he did not comply. Truong and his wife now fear for his safety.
A CSW source on Vietnam remarked, "Even though authorities themselves have confirmed that Pastor Truong is neither criminal nor crazy, they still incarcerate him in a mental hospital. It sounds like the Soviet Union 50 years ago."
Tina Lambert, Advocacy Director of CSW, said in a news release, "The release of this story should embarrass the Vietnamese Prime Minister, who is about to go to the U.S. to convince America that all is well in Vietnam. At the same time, a delegation from Dong Nai Province, the location of the Bien Hoa Mental Hospital, is visiting America on a trade mission. It is time the West confronts the reality of Vietnam's flagrant disregard for the religious freedom of her people."
According to its web site, CSW is "a human rights organization specializing in religious freedom. CSW works on behalf of those persecuted for their Christian beliefs and promotes religious liberty for all."
