The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

MIRAMAR, Fla. -- Despite the massive federal, state and local law enforcement effort to stop terrorists from entering the United States, there is no strong evidence of how well it is working.

Many experts are concerned that there are plenty of terrorists or sympathizers already in the country who have been here for years. Some are even citizens.

The Sept. 11, 2001, hijackers were the first wave and now the increasing number of arrests seems to signal a second wave of terrorism in South Florida.

Lynwood, Calif. -- A man was shot in the head Monday while driving on the Long Beach Freeway (710), prompting the closure of southbound lanes during morning rush hour as investigators searched for evidence, authorities said.

Following the shooting, passengers in the vehicle flagged down a motorist who took the victim to a hospital, Bill Preciado of the California Highway Patrol told KABC-TV. He was in critical condition.

The shooting, reported shortly after 2 a.m., occurred in Lynwood near the Century Freeway (105). It followed a dispute at a night club and three other vehicles were involved, authorities said.

Southbound lanes in the Lynwood area reopened shortly before 7 a.m., authorities said.

The plane crashed on the 1700 block of Northeast 56 Street around 3:50 p.m. just after takeoff from Executive, news partner NBC 6 reported.

The twin-engine propeller plane, possibly a cargo aircraft, crashed in a residential area and firefighters were working to bring a fire under control."

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A Defense Department analyst was charged with disclosing to a foreign diplomat classified information about a Middle Eastern country's activities in Iraq, court documents showed on Monday.

Lawrence Franklin was arrested in May on charges of illegally disclosing classified defense information. An indictment returned by a federal grand jury and unsealed on Monday gave further information on the charges, including that he disclosed secret information to the diplomat.

Franklin, who worked on the Iran desk within the Office of the Secretary of Defense at the time the government says he disclosed the information, was also charged with disclosing top-secret information about potential attacks on U.S. forces in Iraq to two employees of a pro-Israel lobbying group."
