While many MSM'ers (sorry, most) are lionizing this guy as "a hero," someone who "did what he had to do," something big is being missed.
Our side has pointed out that he authorized/engineered illegal breakins himself...
And that he turned on the Whitehouse because he didn't get the top FBI job. Now think about that....
Felt became a snitch because he didn't get something he wanted! He was an opportunist, plain and simple (and it runs in the family, apparently, as they shamelessly say they urged the old man to do it so they could all get some money). Yeah, a real hero.
But here's what I haven't seen....
If they had made him the head of the FBI, he WOULD NOT have turned on the Whitehouse.
In fact, as head of the FBI....
HE WOULD HAVE HELPED THEM BURY WATERGATE!
The CIA is prohibited from conducting operations inside the USA unless it has to do with Spies, or foreigners suspected of spying. But they are definitely not supposed to be burglarizing the DNC headquarters for political reasons
Didn't you notice that the ONLY things in it addressed questions that have come up in the last few days, like how they met, why they were friends, stuff like that?
And it was so poorly written, I found myself wondering if Woodward has a ghostwriter for his books.
Do you know that Woodward was working in Admiral Moorer's office during the Radford spy scandal? Did you know he was visiting the White House carrying papers back and forth. He had the highest security clearance you could have - and you honestly believe he and Ben Bradlee didn't know that he was the number 3 man at FBI and that he just may have been PO'd because Nixon gave Patrick Gray the job Felt thought he deserved?
LOL. Why do I get this feeling you are a partisan?
Funny.
OK, Then explain why the Cuban burglars were carrying bogus passports that were identified as coming from the CIA
Well, you read kcvl's post about Bradlee; what do you think?
Interesting in the extreme!
Link please :-)
It is, isn't it? Woodward is fast becoming the Forest Gump of journalism.
But the Cubs...
Good question
Prositution makes me think mob and that would involve the FBI
Not my take on the article at all. We must have been reading different articles. Woodward worked Felt as a possible asset in the future. Woodward knew how to plan ahead. That is my take. Woodward was friendly with Felt prior to Nixon not promoting him, and of course, prior to the break in. As to Felt's motives, that is speculation, and frankly, why is that relevant? Nixon was the one who chose to commit crimes, and to have sour grapes over its exposure, strike me as odd. As I said, yes Felt could have shut it down, prior to Nixon crossing the Rubicon, and he didn't. But then, that was not his job, and yes, maybe he was mad at Nixon. So what?
I was serious!!
btw, which post of kvcl's?
There were Cubans involved--but not in the (June 14) break-in. The Cubans weren't retired (they remained Cuban-Americans), but they did have ties to the CIA, compliments of President Kennedy who stranded them in the Bay of Pigs.
There is some very interesting stuff on that thread that kcvl has found (yes, yet again she outdoes herself!)

See above.
Amazing stuff about Bradlee, but if he is a spook, he's working for the other side
What do you mean it was not his job?
He was, for all intents and purposes, RUNNING the FBI, Hoover traveling around the country and Tolson so ill he couldn't come to work.
His JOB was to NOT devulge criminal evidence known to him in an ongoing investigation; there were LEGAL ways to handle it.
The Democrats were in control on Congress; I'm sure as hell Sam Irwin would have been interested in hearing what he had to say.
And he evidently wasn't mad enough at Nixon to not ask him to come and testify on his behalf at his "black bag" trial, was he?
