I read in his acceptance speech the following which to me indicates he does have to be confirmed.

""It's been a pleasure to work with you, Mr. President, as a member of the congressional leadership during these last five years of your administration. If confirmed, I look forward to the opportunity to serve our nation now in this new role as Chairman of the SEC. Thank you, sir.""

Yep. Sounds like it. I think they'll probably just use it as an opportunity for some more of their hate rhetoric, then move on. They won't want to waste their ammunition on the SEC chairman, which is somewhat apolitical.

Don't know if this was brought up already,
When the Prez visited C. Powell the other evening,
wonder if baseball was more the topic, since the
Prez owned the Rangers, and Powell and some others
are trying to buy the new D.C. team BUT here is the
hook to this, Lefty loony George Soros is thinking
of buying them also. We don't need that nut mucking
up our sports.
