Hmmm. That is interesting. It's all perception, so neither of us will ever know who's right (if either). The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.
I think both suffered from being surrounded by untrustworthy, incompetent staff members. I think that may be partly why George Bush is SOOO careful about who he picks for his VP, his cabinet, and his White House staff.
The Deep Throat revelations of the last few days have reminded me again of how important it is for a President to be surrounded by skilled individuals that can be trusted implicitly and are above reproach. And despite all the crap that gets thrown at them, and all the attempts to create 'the next Watergate,' that is exactly what he has.
In the end, I think that may be the most important piece of wisdom he brought to the Presidency. He surrounds himself with experienced, skilled, principled individuals.
