A Hamilton County juvenile judge granted a continuance today in the case of a Hyde Park teen charged with murder after he allegedly beat his brother to death using a baseball bat.
Defense attorneys for Andrew Warrington, 16, asked for more time to prepare at today's probable cause hearing.
Judge Thomas Lipps granted the request.
Warrington's parents, Marcie and John Warrington Jr., who are divorced, held hands as they walked into a courtroom packed with media. During the brief hearing, John Warrington reassuringly gripped the arm of his handcuffed and leg shackled son.
Lipps ordered Andrew Warrington held until the case resumes June 27. If probable cause is found, the case automatically will move to adult court.
Steve Tolbert, chief assistant prosecuting attorney, wouldn't comment on evidence, potential witnesses or any other specifics about the case.
"It's a very serious charge," Tolbert said. "The defense needs to make sure they're prepared to go forward with this, and a continuance under these circumstances is very reasonable."
Police and witnesses say the barefooted teen was seen washing his bloodstained hands in the Kilgour Fountain at the center of Hyde Park Square at lunchtime May 24. Construction workers contacted police and said the teen told them they would find a body in a nearby home.
Police found Johnny Warrington, 17, a Summit Country Day senior, beaten to death in the front room of his mother's home five blocks from the square.
Warrington is being held at the Juvenile Detention Center in Mount Auburn.

Screwing up your kids doesn't just happen, you have to work at it.....
Hasn't the SCOTUS already ruled that murderous scum like this can never face the ultimate penalty?
His parents still love him and he killed their other son.
"His parents still love him and he killed their other son."
I don't know how people survive these things. I'd be collapsed, just like this mom was.
What about the third son mentioned, is he older or younger than the others?
He is 13, I think. I wonder if the boy who did it is insane.
I went to school with Andrew Warrington, he's not insane, I think a lot of it was neglect from the parent's part. He went to 5 schools within 2 years including boarding school and then back to Withrow compared to his two prestigious brothers at Summit Country Day. He was just quiet. I don't think anyone will ever know if it was planned or if it was just over an argument. I don't think he's going to talk to anyone, I wouldn't if I were him. Just more drama. I know that his parents aren't staying in the house though.
His father didn't live in the house, but his mother didn't either?
Your story is very different from the one the media portrays, from the outside they look like a committed family. Why didn't he stay at any of the schools?
Maybe it was drugs that made him do it?
No, his parents aren't staying in the house since the killing. His parents were divorced before and didn't live together. The murder happened at the mother's house. But since the murder no one has been staying in the house. I know that pot/marijuana doesn't make you kill someone but it could instigate a fight or what not. I would just like to know why he wasn't at school that day either. Did he plan this by skipping school?
I don't think his parens knew how to handle him. But changing schools so frequently doesn't help. Lots of parents use Withrow as a threat. "If you don't shape up and get your grades up, I'm going to send you to Withrow."
Maybe they thought that if they kept punishing him he would change? I know he didn't get a lot of attention. I think neglect and jealousy is what triggered it.
Why did he keep leaving schools? His mother was an at home mom, how was he neglected anyway?
He sounds like he skipped school quite a bit, that day may have been no different.
He doesn't sound like he was a violent kid, I'm still thinking he went nuts.
Explain to me how someone who is 16 and beats someone to death with a baseball bat is SANE.
Nice try at excusing criminal behavior.
Shame on YOU.
Beating your brother to death with a baseball bat, however, DOES make one a bad person. The worst. Other than self-defense there is no excuse or justification.
I know Johnny's family. They are kind, loving, and wonderful people. The Warringtons are fantastic parents. They love all of their children. The family is completely devastated by this, as anyone would be. What Andrew did is horrible and wrong, but it was in no way a product of unqualified or unloving parents. To suggest that the parents worked at screwing up the family is completely absurd. They are both genuinely wonderful people. I'd ask you and the rest of the speculators to stop passing judgment on people about whom you know nothing.
