Tripp, Felt treatment a contrast
The Washington Times ^ | June 2, 2005 | James Lakely

The former attorney for Clinton scandal whistleblower Linda R. Tripp -- who, like "Deep Throat," exposed White House misdeeds -- said his client's harsh public treatment stands in stark contrast to the veneration of W. Mark Felt, whose aid to the press helped bring down President Nixon.

"I think that what happened to Linda Tripp -- demonization is too kind a word," said David Irwin, who represented Mrs. Tripp during President Clinton's impeachment trial. "I thought she got the brunt of a lot of people's frustrations.

"There is no question that Linda Tripp, like Mark Felt, was not happy with what was going on in the White House," Mr. Irwin said. "It was so unlike what she considered the good old days of the [first] Bush White House. I think there is a corollary there."

Both Tripp and Felt discovered wrong-doing in the White House. Both were digusted that the occupant of the White House was not as honorable as "their" presidents who served before.

Linda Tripp collected her evidence and went to the authorities -- a legal action.

Mark Felt took information that it was illegal to disseminate and took it to a newspaper.

Tripp did the right thing, is a villain.

Mark Felt did the wrong thing, is a hero.

And we all know why.

The thing that kept Linda Tripp from being "Fostered" was Clinton's emission of guilt.

And we all know why.

Yes we do. As millions of Americans know also. The media wing of the RAT Party however, will never get it, which is fine with me.

Liberal media template: Republican whistleblowers good, Democratic whistleblowers, bad. It all depends on which President is the target.

(Denny Crane: "Sometimes you can only look for answers from God and failing that... and Fox News".)

Because it was about sex?

Sure. As long as sex = perjury and obstruction of justice.

NBC was touting this morning about their "exclusive" interview with Former President Clinton as if his opinion matters.

Look on the "bright" side...if Her Bitchiness gets anointed to the Presidency by the Liberal Elite via electoral treachery and blatantly illegal cheating, Whistleblowing in a Hillary Administration will become a big, big industry. In fact, that's where the economy would grow the most.

Better polish up your resumes...

Felt should be prosecuted. No excuses. He broke the law. When a law enforcement officer breaks the law, no amount of "nuanced" thinking can turn it into a noble act.

Perhaps a mention of Elliot Richardson and his actions - viz., his resignation - might be instructive here ...?

Also, Nixon resigned ... klinton did not - where once again partisan politics and party discipline trumped principle. The path to obstruction via filibusters, ..., delays via procedural "rules" ... , etc., got its start here.

Wouldn't it be wild if Hillary were elected president and then was taken down Watergate-style by someone within the FBI. Probably the only people she doesn't have FBI files on is the FBI. LOL.

If she come to power, Hitlery will set up gulags as her idol Joe Stalin did when he came to power. The media will characterize them as adult daycare centers dedicated to reeducation of the politically incorrect.

No. Because the early 1970s were a different time. Most of us never had cause to believe that the major media lied or covered up or took sides. This was a time when we (or me, anyway) really bought their story of the camelot/St John F. Kennedy myth and they portrayed Richard Nixon as the first president in our lifetime who was touched by scandal.

Linda R. Tripp -- who, like "Deep Throat," exposed White House misdeeds

I'm not surprised about this double standard, but this fool writer loses EVERYONE that previously disagreed with him right there. Freepers get it and have no problem with his thesis. But if this guy REALLY wanted to change minds in the current atmosphere, he would realize that he loses them in the intro.

He needs to broaden it to an article that promotes (or denigrates) the role of the whistleblower such that if you liked Tripp, you can see the similarity with Felt and why he should not have leaked to jr. reporters; and then if you hated Tripp (as all lefties do) that you can see why Felt's leaking was cowardice to backstab, and why Tripp had no other choice to make the tapes to protect herself.

At least that's my brilliant advice from a humble non-writer without a column or kudos.... :-(

Isn't it amazing that he just POP's up at every MAJOR news event? Sooner or later everything becomes about him!!
