Lord have mercy -- Florida -- AGAIN! A seven year old! This is beyond comprehension. If this "child" can kill at seven, I don't think any amount of rehabilitation will help him. Are these crack kids, fetal alcohol syndrome kids or what in the world is going on????

From Drudge:
The State Attorney's Office is deciding whether to file charges against the boy in an attack that rattled even veteran homicide detectives.

snip

The unidentified boy was not taken into custody and is living with his mother while prosecutors make their decision on whether to charge him.

Tell me what this is about. Why isn't this boy in custody undergoing a psychiatric observation? Living with Mom & then Dad has NOT worked up to this point. You have to find out what you are working with here.

Sometimes it's the NO LOVE and not the no discipline that triggers such violence in young children. There are children who are so neglected emotionally by their parents they cannot experience normal emotional behaviour. That does include not having a conscience when it comes to violence. Sadly, there isn't much hope for these children either.

I can perhaps assume that the baby was the child of the father and the girlfriend?

Moral Absolutes Ping.

Does anyone see a pattern here? So many articles about children killing children - or their parents. Notice the miserable family picture. Or rather non-family. Merely rutting animals, actually many animal families are more devoted and "human" than this.

When families are destroyed, when lifelong faithful monogamy is considered a useless quaint habit from the past, when illicit sex is considered practically mandatory, when children are considered a burden, this is what happens. Add to that highly violent and immoral "entertainment" and high rates of drug use, and this is what we get.*

Human beings utterly destroyed before they even reach adolescence.

If people were taught that the 10 Commandments were the basic rules for human behavior, what would be the harm?

Let me know if you want on/off this pinglist.

*Add to the list the cultural understanding that there is no such thing as humans possessing an eternal soul, God as a Supreme Person does not exist, and there is no eternal justice or transcendent meaning and purpose to life, and voila!

After reading the story earlier in the week about the bride who was gang-raped on her wedding night by the grooms friends, & endorsed by his parents, I thought I had seen it all! Now this. How very, very sad! Life has become so cheap!

I find it hard to believe that the child never exhibited indications of some sort of mental imbalance (i.e., violent outbursts, cruelty to animals, etc.) previous to this incident. If so, it's tragic that it was not acted on at that time.

I also agree with the other posters that you just do not leave a baby alone with a 7 year-old, no matter how responsible he or she may be.

A kid that lived up the street from us in Mission Viejo took a broom stick and jammed his four year old brother's texticles up inside of him. Sociopaths start early.

There was another awful thread yesterday about a nine-year-old girl stabbing her playmate.

I cannot comprehend how a child can commit such a heinous act. I put the blame on the parents, not the child. Children are sponges. They soak up what they see and hear. It seems that more and more children are raising themselves, because their parents won't do it. And this is the result. Children are learning all the wrong things.

Quotation from one of Chris's Rock's shows:

It don't take no scientist to tell who will have some f***** up kids. If the kid call his grandma mami and his mama Pam, he's going to jail

We can argue death penalty or not all day... but, does anyone here honestly believe that this boy has not crossed a point of no return?
