I don't know who else gives a rip, but I do. I lived thru this and I am steaming mad.

I phrased that very poorly. The media's making a big deal about it because Watergate is their absolute crown jewel, their high water mark, their realization of the power that they have held and so shamelessly abused over the years. They're approaching this like the ex-star QB reliving the glory days, and they actually think, with their typical self-absorption, that the American people are celebrating them and their "achievement" right along side them. They're hyping the story now for all the wrong reasons, reasons that we couldn't care less about.

What we do care about, of course, the horrific abuse of power the media displayed, the gagging hypocrisy when you compare the canonization of Felt with the all-out character assassination that was Linda Tripp's reward, the complete shift of the media into full time "big game hunter" mode (at least when Republican administrations are in power, anyway); all these things are being flushed down the media memory hole.

And now it turns out that the mighty Watergate story has, at it's core, turned out to be nothing more than a bunch of thoroughly revolting, corrupted people doing unspeakable things to one another, playing their selfish little games at the expense of the nation. IOW, just more typical liberal democrat business as usual. I actually hope this left-wing scrum for the money gets really messy and really nasty, and exposes far and wide these putrid little creatures in the democrat party and in the media.

Buchanan has correctly identified Woodward and Bernstein, not as investigative journalists but as merely stenographers in this entire matter.

Amusing how the press is now trying to spin a case for all the work they had to do in spite of having everything handed to them by a despicable self-interested narcissist.

LOL! Yes, indeed. Now I wholeheartedly agree with you.
