ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY It is my privilege to inform you that Hack is back on permanent duty. Col. David Haskell Hackworth USA (Ret.) has joined several hundred thousand of his fellow soldiers guarding the hallowed ground of Arlington after a Memorial Service at nearby Fort Myer this morning. More than 600 former comrades, fellow soldiers and friends gathered in the soaring Fort Myer Memorial Chapel to shed tears of sorrow over his passing, to hear some of his favorite songs and psalms, and to laugh and betimes listen in awed silence as fellow veterans and journalism colleagues recounted his bravery, his audacity, his integrity and his perennial smile.
"Safely rest" Hack.
It's hot where he is now.
"____"
Col. David Hackworth, P.O.S.
The Guardsmen and Reservists are probably happy to see him go after the trashing he gave them.
Good riddance.

I hope that a certain "conservative" radio commentator named Hugh Hewitt saw this. After the fall of Baghdad Hack had the temerity to ruin Hugh's spiking of the ball in the end zone by warning him and his listeners of a bloody occupation that would follow. Hugh responded by calling Hack a "loser." Those of us who wore the uniform know all about "patriots" like Hugh Hewitt.

| Posted by MARK4 to Axhandle On Bloggers & Personal 05/06/2005 9:17:29 AM PDT · 5 of 7 This will make Hugh Hewitt happy. While verbally spiking the ball in the end zone on his radio show after the Iraq invasion he called Hack a "loser" for warning that what followed would be a bloodbath. Hack turned out to be rather prescient, while Hugh turned out to be what he always was, a cheerleader for neo cons with piety in one hand and a juvenile sense of humor in the other. As a conservative I'd rather be led by Hack. Post Reply | Private Reply | To 1 | View Replies |

Slightly misguided at the end though.
Hackworth spent way too much time smoking dope in the steam and creme. By the way how many body bags did David predict would be needed prior to Desert Storm?
Agreed.
This deploying Guardsman notes, without remorse, the passing of COL Hacked-off.
I'll salute the man's rank, but not the man inside the suit. Respect is earned, not issued.
I know, I know while Hack earned 9 Purple Hearts defending our Nation you earned 19 or 20.
Thanks for your Great Service.
LOL!
Old Sarge -
Thank you for your service to this country. There are quite a few of us out here who are awful damn proud of our Guardsmen and Reservists, as well as our active duty troops.
Hats off to you, sir.
I'm sure you and your fellow Hogan's Heroes buddies can find someone for me?
Good, well researched post led with a catchy phrase.
I notice you fill your About page with lot's 'o quotes, such as Lincoln, etc.
Perhaps you might consider this one. Patience and tenacity of purpose are worth more than twice their weight of cleverness.
What a great comeback!. BRAVO brother!
Hey, maybe we can get you that Col. Klink bobblehead doll you've always wanted?
I think he allowed the snubbing the Army leadership gave him by not awarding him a star post Vietnam, to turn him into a bitter old man which was a shame. In the end, he spent a career in uniform supporting and defending the Constitution of the United States and he killed more than his fair share of communists hell bent on our destruction. For that, at least, he has my undying gratitude and respect.
This is a great post, well written and well reasoned. Many, many thanks to you.
