The Democratic Party, the self-proclaimed defender of the middle class, was trounced by Republicans among those voters in the 2004 election, according to a Democratic advocacy group that says the party faces "a crisis with the middle class."
A report released yesterday by Third Way says support for Republicans begins at much lower income levels than researchers had expected: Among white voters, President Bush got a majority of support beginning at an income threshold of $23,300 -- about $5,000 above the poverty level for a family of four.
The report says the economic gains of Hispanics have translated into strong Republican gains, as have economic strides across every category, save for black voters.

lol, the pro-poverty party won't like that news!
The Democrats thrive on victim groups. They find them or create them then work to keep them there.
It's also a problem for America unfortunately.
Your so right about their'' cover being blown''. Here in LA friends of mine ''former libs'' work as messengers in the day so they pursue other career goals, musician, actors, etc.I have been amazed at the turn around in most of them from libs to Bush supporters. When I question them about what turned their thinking around[the change in some is quite amazing] they tell me they are trapped in their cars all day driving around in LA traffic and they have been listening to Rush, Hannity ,etc. Talk radio ''educated'' them. And thats why the DIms are so angry about Rush etc. and want to shut it down!
... according to a Democratic advocacy group that says the party faces "a crisis with the middle class."...L.O.L....who in the middle class is going to shoot themselves in the ass monitarily by voting for socialists?
Wolfman jack simply moved his show to Mexico for years when he couldn't get what he wanted in the U.S.
Maybe if they shut Rush down or make that fairness deal fly, Rush can set up shop in say the Bahamas. Just a short ride from his palm beach shack.
"And you have people like my father who have said "I was born a Democrat and I will die a Democrat." I love my dad, however in this instance loyalty is the wrong response."
My inlaws are Jewish, lifelong Democrats and they call Bush a Nazi. I just stare at them and shake my head. When I do engage them I ask what their party has done over the last 40 years that made their lives better.
No answer.....
If he wanted to, Rush could move to satellite radio and still sell advertising. Then the FCC would lose any control over him.
My guess is Rush will wait till satellite radio proves it can compete with regular radio before making that jump. I mean, having over 600 radio stations means he's reaching just about every nook and cranny in the country right now. Like his website, he'll wait to make the jump when he knows he can turn an even bigger profit on XM or Cerious and still reach the same number of listeners.
" And you have people like my father who have said "I was born a Democrat and I will die a Democrat." "
And my mother-in-law. Nice lady, but she made up her (political) mind in 1940 to be an FDR Democrat, and hasn't seen the need to revisit the decision since.
I'm sure you are correct. I was only speculating on a recourse available to Rush in the event that the dems return to ruin the country and reinstitute the liberal doctrine. On satellite, Rush's show would be always available during vacation travel and it would never be preempted for baseball.
The title is misleading.
The article is saying that the Democrats have lost the Middle Class & the Reps have picked up the votes.
"When I do engage them I ask what their party has done over the last 40 years that made their lives better.
No answer..... "
Gee - that's something I have to try sometime. Problem is, when people stop talking, I have a terrible tendency to fill the void. I'll have to try this question and see if I can keep my bloomin' mouth shut for a minute or so...

And thats why the DIms are so angry about Rush etc. and want to shut it down!
They're working on it:
