'This was a f---ing mess, man." Kevin Sites peers at the monitor in the bright Californian sunlight, trying to make out the images on the screen. But Sites doesn't really have to look. This is his film, his moment; the images on the screen ones that have come to define his life. [Barf Alert]
Kevin Sites is the journalist who captured the moment when a young US army marine shot an equally young insurgent inside a mosque in Falluja in November last year. Sites' video, broadcast around the world, caused a storm.
[snip]
"I knew what I had right away," Sites says. "I called the top bosses at the network, the three news officials that are responsible for foreign news. Got them out of bed. I said I've got something that is potentially bigger than Abu Ghraib. I need you to know that I have it. For the first time I watched the videotape on playback as I talked to them and I remember my words, I go, 'F---, I have it.'" [Note the excitement at what he "had"]
[snip... two paragraphs later...]
"I hoped at that moment that it had been anybody else other than me shooting that video tape."
[I'm callin' bulls--t.]

The man is a proven liar. And his 15 minutes of fame are longer over, no matter how many self-congratulatory interviews he gives to the Guardian.
correction: "long over" not "longer over"
No kidding ! Go away Kevin, your 15 minutes are LONG up.
Riiiiiiight. You're as big a sack of crap as Bernie Shaw and Peter Arnett. Both of whom refused to be debriefed by OUR military on what they saw from their hotel room in Baghdad on the first night of Desert Storm.
Too bad the Marine missed a chance to shoot another one of the enemy.
This will get worse and worse, and the soldiers will turn their guns on the effin reporters, being the SPIES for the enemy that they are.
LOL. Yeah. Didn't somebody say our troops were targeting "journalists" or some such crap?
Damn, beat me by one minute!
He didn't reply.
More than half my wish came true......the other part may yet happen.
*Still hoping*
Hey Kevin, how about going over there again for another "great " story....uh, be very careful though. You know what a dangerous place it is, and how sometimes mistakes happen. Oh, and be careful you don't get lost somewhere in a bad part of town, cause you know, 911 on your cell may not work as well in Baghdad.
We'll be right here eagerly awaiting your last, uh, next story.
And everyone wonders why the military isn't meeting its quota of recruits. Thank God for the ones we get. Every battle is a two front fight.
Then he put down his crack pipe, and picked up the phone. "I've got a film that'll get a thousand more Americans killed around the world. Quick! You've got to air it asap! This one will have American blood pouring out into the streets! I can get an award for this!!!"
At the time did he not say he offered the tape to the CO?
Also, IIRC, there was an article in his hometown paper that claimed the same thing. It is a pathetic rag and I am unable to come up with his name on their site. It is too late to call now, but will in the morning.
We've got a Fifth Column right here at home. And now its getting stronger with the ACLU.
For all of you who gave up on Oreilly, he did a great job tonite on the ACLU scumbags.
The media is littered with unprofessional, childish, blood thirsty A holes.
I still say that the sob should have stopped, or at least slowed down,a bullet.
Which side it was on I do not care.
Why the hell did the military let this piece of crap anywhere near the action?
No matter how he tries to explain it he's a f*cking traitor!
