HARARE (Reuters) - Zimbabwe's government has criticized the cash-strapped national airline for flying unviable routes, including one trip which saw an Air Zimbabwe jet fly 6,000 km (3,728 miles) from Dubai with a solitary passenger aboard.
Local media reported earlier this month that Air Zimbabwe's maiden flight to Dubai, a Boeing 737, left with 49 passengers on board and made the return flight with just one.

On the bright side, there was plenty of leg room.

Zimbabwe's government has forfeited the moral right to criticize anyone.

You'd think they'd be embarrassed to call attention to the fact they everyone is headed OUT, not in.....
I forgot, leftists are beyond embarrassment, and shame for them is an unknown phenomenon.....

Ah yes. Visit the tourist attraction that is Zimbabwe. Experience first hand the joys of starvation. Partake of our fine and unusual endangered animal menu and tree bark.
You will get plenty of exercise in sunny Zimbabwe. You will walk everywhere because there is no gas!
You won't even have to haul your luggage around the country! Mugabe will gladly burn your belongings to ashes.
All this can be yours, contact your travel agent for an exotic vacation to sunny Zimbabwe!

Ive often wondered if flying nearly empty planes may have been a contributing factor in the 9/11 attack. Economically it's like flying from NY to LA to cash a 5 dollar check.

Totally funny but the poor crew did need to get back to their country.

Obviously they should have just left the plane in Dubai.
Or perhaps, it would have been better to return with no passengers?

A Northwest employee told me that while he was in Minneapolis they started a daily flight from there to Omaha.
The first day of the new service there was only one man on the flight.
They lost his baggage.

I guess it would have been smarter to have left the aircraft is Dubai until they got enough people wanting to fly back. Of course you'd accumulate a bunch of planes in Dubai that way, but I bet the flight crews would appreciate it.

I flew on a Braniff(remember them) flight about 30 years ago with four passengers, and a crew of four. I liked it.

That happened to me once on a red-eye from LA to Pittsburgh. The flight crew outnumbered the passengers.

yeah, it is more like the playground of the Middle East. When you have to go on Visa trips, as most of the guys over there only have 6 month visas for Qatar and Kuwait, they head to Dubai for a night.....
the stories they tell sometimes....

At least Air Zimbabwe has an reason for not having any in-flight snacks. What's Northwest's excuse?
