Per MSNBC
From Wikipedia:
"Generally acknowledged to be the three leading candidates are W. Mark Felt, Fred Fielding, and William H. Rehnquist.
"W. Mark Felt was the third highest official in the FBI at the time of Watergate. James Mann, who had worked at the Post at the time of Watergate and was close to the investigation, brought a great deal of evidence together in a 1992 article in Atlantic Monthly that fingered Felt and convinced many. He argued that the information Deep Throat gave Woodward could only have come from FBI files. Felt was also embittered at having been passed over for the Director General position and the FBI in general was hostile to the Nixon administration. In previous unrelated articles Woodward had made clear he had a highly placed source at the FBI and there is some evidence he was friends with Felt. Felt was Richard Nixon's personal candidate as Deep Throat. Bernstein's son blurted to others that Felt was Deep Throat many years ago. Bernstein's wife at that time, Nora Ephron, tried to explain it away, saying that their son overheard her "speculations." Woodward has kept in close touch with Felt over the years, even showing up unexpected at his house in 1999, after Felt's dementia began. Some suspected at that time that Woodward might be asking Felt if he could reveal him to be Deep Throat, though Felt, when asked directly by others, has consistently denied being Deep Throat."

Somebody here got it right... Nixon was right, too.
I know it... lol
I've posted the full statement by President Reagan on this site.
Don't know if I can stomach Matthews. I'm sure he's hyperventilating, as usual.
I believe that was the point of Bradlee's diferential statement. Context, not direct content.
That would be cruel and unusual punishment.
Bradlee said today, "The thing that stuns me is that the g-----n secret has lasted this long." He was the Post's executive editor during Watergate and now is a vice president of the newspaper.
The thing that stuns me is that Bradley had all these years to come up with a soundbite and this was the best he could do.
Yeah, it worked out for us in the end. Without Carter's monumental incompetence, we never could have had elected someone as Conservative as RR.
True, but without Carter's monumental incompetence, the Shah would have survived to promote a moderate brand of Islam. Radicals might not have undermined the moderate state of Lebanon. Saddam could not have used the Iran/Iraq war to build his military machine. The U.S. would not have had to dignify Saudi Arabia with the title 'ally', and the House of Saud would not have had carte blanche to export their hateful version of Islam. In a lot of ways, our current situation is a product of Carter's craven willingness to jettison a loyal ally and a force for progress in the region because Khomeni and his chanting thugs were the press' flavor of the week.
If Carter was the price we had to pay for Reagan, it was a heavy price.
I guess that makes Monica "shallow throat".
Felt said in an interview that he talked to Woodward ONE TIME to check out the information he had collected. Felt said he failed to cooperate with them in an interview according to James Rosen on Fox News. Deep Throat was a made up character! DT was suppose to be a chain smoker but Felt gave up smoking many years before Deep Throat.
Yep, not sure about this at all. Maybe there was no DT, and the WAPO went on a lot of unreliable sourced info to go after Nixon. Could be Felt is nothing more than a cooked up deal between both parties, which benefit in both money and mostly for WAPO, to look credible. Just a thought.
Rosen just said that Felt quit smoking in 1943!
Dan Rather thinks Felt performed a public service............... Wow! I'm relieved!
It was all a fiction of their imagination just like G. Gordon Liddy said. lol!
No it doesn't
Between this news and all the kiddies running around my house .. my head is spinning right now
Buchanan doesn't think this was heroic at all
Okay, who was SHARING A MISTRESS with John F. Kennedy?! According to Pat Buchanan?!!! LOL! We may find out more than we want to know!!! ROFLOL!
Thanks.... It is most likely a moot point as I doubt there would be any attempt to prosecute him now. I think the 'full and unconditional' pardon relates only to those convictions that were on appeal... just a guess as it's not that specific in President Reagan's message.
I'd believe Liddy over anybody else after all he did the time!
