From the San Antonio Express-News:
Ryan John Bonar, 20, of Brant, Mich., was washing cars at the shop when he disappeared at about 5 p.m. Monday, said Sheriff Joe Tackitt. He has not been seen since.
Bonar was being held at the Wilson County Jail on a burglary charge and on a warrant from Florida on a grand theft charge accusing him of stealing a truck, the sheriff said. Bonar had been at the jail since Dec. 23.
A white, 2003 F150 Ford shortbed pickup was taken, he said. The pickup has no front license plate and has a Texas exempt license plate in the rear with numbers 840-357.

It sounds like this idiot wasnt too far away from freedom, now he will be in prison a long time, provided he lives past the capture.

I see some hard miles in those eyes.

the teenage fugitive had earned himself a reputation as a good worker at the maintenance shop since he began working there as a trusty about a month ago
I hope to be gainfully employed as a trusty some day. This guy is determined to learn the hard way.

"Bonar was described by Wilson County Sheriff Joe Tackitt Jr. as a nonviolent offender who last week was sentenced to six years in state prison on a burglary conviction."
Nope, this guy was headed to Huntsville to prison for 6 years..

Not a very trusty trusty. In fact, he was quite rusty in the trusty department.

"...as a nonviolent offender who last week was sentenced to six years in state prison on a burglary conviction. The Michigan man was also wanted on an out-of-county warrant for grand theft. That charge stemmed from a vehicle theft, the sheriff said on Tuesday morning."
"Why Bonar would go on the lam mystified the sheriff, Tackitt admitted."
"I don't know if it's a spur of the moment type of thing or what," Tackitt said. "It doesn't make any sense."
Well, let's see: Bonar has a criminal history involving theft, and more specifically involving theft of a VEHICLE. He was working in a VEHICLE-maintenance shop as a TRUSTY, which BTW he earned a reputation as a "good worker" after being there for a whole MONTH! Hotdog!!! And the sheriff is "mystified" and Bonar's actions "doesn't make any sense."?!!
Sounds to me like someone is impersonating Inspector Cluso, or the Keystone Cops.

I think it's okay to feel sad for the kid, though.

this guy was headed to Huntsville to prison for 6 yearsTrue, but six years sentenced doesn't always means six served. With good behavior, he probably could've been paroled in one or two years.

Very true, but the dude wasn't soon to be released as the poster indicated. He was leaving jail and going to prison.
