Bush stated this war is not about one person. Even if we get Osama, the war is not over..

I agree with that. The problem is that there are several million people in that area of the world who either are terrorists, support terrorists, help hide terrorists, wannabe terrorists when they grow up, or are just cheering them on. We don't have what it takes to win this war against them. I mean we don't have the killer instinct to win this war. Our military soldiers do... but our politicians don't. So now we're talking about planting democracy in countries as a way of winning the war on terrorism.

To date nobody has explained to me in a way that makes perfect, or really even a little sense, how this will win the war on terrorism.

Cheney says today that we'll be out of Iraq by 09. Like that's a victory? In the mean time we attacked Iraq because our intelligence said they had weapons of mass destruction even though Iraq denied it. (I'm sure they had them too)..... But right now Iran is telling the world that they are developing nukes. They're not denying it. They're boasting about it. But our president in this term does not have the political support to do anything about it. That's a lame duck admin in my opinion.

"He's speaking like he needs a nap. Ah, ah, ah, well, ah .......... he sounds like Hillary without the "you knows"."

And your nationally-televised, off-the-cuff speeches, I gather, are without hesitation, clear, and forceful?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

Not only does he not know what constitutes "extraordinary corcumstance" (except it isn't reflected in Owen, Brown or Pryor), he figures the Senate doesn't know what it is either.

Yes, but ... I think everyone knows it means, When the dems get an obstructionist burr under their collective saddles again. It's simply not possible to codify that, so they left an open door.

My, you are sensitive and take things very personal, don't you? I don't think anyone has told you what you can and cannot post.....just remarks on your one-topic. Take a chill pill and go have a better day.

As long as Musharraf has control of the military (such as he does) and their nuclear program - I, for one, want Pak officially on our side. If we have to prop him up, so be it. I believe they have turned over appox 700 al queda to the US. That's not a bad thing compared to the Islamists fundies taking over their military and nuclear. Don't you think this is a tightrope that must be walked for now? I get what you're saying but I think we need that little man at this time. The future may hold different as we have seen in our history.

"People of hispanic background who want to work find jobs in building trades, home services, landscaping, cleaning, child care, food service, etc."

Don't duck the point: sure, there are hispanics all over the place, but they're not doing "jobs Americans are unwilling to do," as you claimed -

they're doing jobs from which they've displaced Americans!

My point, although simple, apparently eluded you:
that it is easy enough to find Americans, not illegal aliens, to do any job you can think of.

I don't disagree with you here. But I don't see proping him up as a real viable longterm solution.

"... called over to hubby, "are we buying French wine again yet?" to which his response was "No! The French still suck."

LOL!

Bet you've noticed how cheap French wines are these days, though!

I've always been a fan of Congressman Bob Inglis, but if he wins in '06, Mike Campbell would make a fine candidate for the U.S. Senate. He'd have instant name recognition in a statewide race and would probably be well financed in a primary challenge to Graham-cracker. I've also heard that Thomas Ravenel, who branded Graham "the 3rd Senator from New York" is already planning on running. He's a multimillionaire real estate developer who would certainly have the funds to commit to the race.

They have the money American homeowners pay them, for jobs that other Americans are unable or unwilling to do for an acceptable price,

Reading comprehension is fundamental skill.

Ravenel was the name I heard on the weekend from one of the talking heads but couldn't remember his name since I've never heard it. Will do some research and check him out. In your post you said if Inglis wins in '06, Mike Campbell would make a fine candidate for the Senate..not sure what you mean. Please clarify.

Actually, no, I haven't, because...the French still suck. I don't even look at it on the shelves any more.

I won't dismiss you as a kook. I will try to read some of those things from the archives. However, I must warn you that I am not so far to the right to be extreme. I can be moderate in some things. I do believe in compromise at times, although not about the President getting his judges and Bolton confirmed.

If you would have seen my following posts about the Prez, you would see that he is my "main man" and that I respect him very highly. He is not perfect however.....so lighten up.

Sorry for the confusion. I meant if Campbell wins the statewide race in '06 he'd be well positioned to make a run in '08, but he's still young and may have his eyes set on being governor like his father. If not, I'd be happy to see Bob Inglis run against Graham. I believe Inglis ran against Hollings a few years back. He's a real conservative and I'm sure would be a reliable "yes" vote on ending filbusters.

I don't have much info on Ravenel. I know he ran in the GOP primary in '04, losing to Demint. Here's a link I found where he talked about the issues in that campaign:
