Laura Bush/Hillary Clinton presidential matchup? (Dick Cheney weighs in!)

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - First lady Laura Bush would defeat U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton if the two were to face each other in the 2008 presidential contest, Vice President Dick Cheney said on Monday.

Cheney made the prediction after his wife, Lynne Cheney, suggested the matchup in an interview on CNN's "Larry King Live."

Mrs. Cheney noted the rampant speculation that the former first lady, now a senator from New York, would make a bid in the next presidential go-around. President Bush cannot seek a third term in office. His father, former President Bush, was defeated after one term by former President Bill Clinton.

"You know, people are thinking of Mrs. Clinton running for president. I think Mrs. Bush ought to run for president," Mrs. Cheney said. "If we want to have a Bush dynasty, let's get Laura Bush."

The vice president, who again ruled out making his own run for president when Bush's term ends, agreed.

"It's a great idea," Dick Cheney said. "And I think I know who would win too."

While I think it most unlikely that the First Lady (the one who is actually a lady) has any intention of running for president, I'm going to enjoy the fantasy for just a bit because it would drive the left right over the edge.

ROFL! Are the Cheney's trying to have some fun with the press and the Clinton's?

Cool. Payback's only fair after that trumped up poll that even 33% of conservatives want to vote for Hillary.

George H.W. Bush 41, the father, can still run for a 2nd term. I've never seen the poll putting George H.W. Bush vs Hillary Clinton. Now THAT would be fun.

"But when pressed, Bush has voiced her political opinions on controversial issues such as the death penalty or abortion, even when her views differ from her husband's. Asked by NBC's "Today" show about the high court's Roe v. Wade decision, she said, "I don't think it should be overturned."

There you go! Two Bush/Cheney terms followed by two Bush/Cheney terms. Then we could follow that by two Cheney(Dick)/Bush (Jeb) terms.

;-)

Not such a great idea, IMHO - but talking about it in this way isn't such a bad idea. A nice way of slamming Hillary. If a person were going to be considered for president based on being a wife of a president, would you rather have the wife of Bill Clinton or the wife of George Bush?

This is a "dull" week for the MSM.

In absence of news involving Government the MSM feels the void with fluff. Fluff such as Hillary winning 33% of conservatives in a presidential bid. It's a talking point to fill the gap until Government re-opens. It's added bonus is to prop their Queen.

The Cheney's are evidently playing the Game and have inserted their own fluff talking point into the mix. It manages to-

1) Illustrate Hillary's short comings in comparison to her successor.

2) Slap down the nonsense a First Lady should take over because their husband was President.

It is a direct slap at the poll the MSM issued to fill the space of the Memorial Day weekend.

Laura Bush is NOT going to run. She has no interest in running. This is not meant to be taken seriously. The slap to the Clinton's and MSM should be taken in pure enjoyment. Nothing more, nothing less.

Though, as far as I'm concerned, Laura is infinitely more preferable than McMaverick or Clinton.
