What is this all about sandwiches I have obviously missed something

Chris Dodd and Teddy Kennedy used to go out drinking together. They would squeeze women in between them and call it a sandwich. They thought it was funny. The women involved were not so happy with the attention of two huge stomachs pressing against them.
