Today IS a celebration

$$$$$

I find Memorial Day is both happy and solemn. Veteran's Day, coming at the beginning of winter, seems a much more somber day to me. The strangest "happy" salutation I ever heard was a man on TV saying Happy Good Friday. Now that was jarring to my ears. He did not know much about Good Friday!

I have not heard that, but agree with you. It's all in ones perspective, huh.

My Grandmother always used to celebrate Decoration Day. It was a day to put flags and flowers on the graves of Civil War veterans.

I think that sometime in mid 20th century, the title was changed to Memorial Day to honor all of our war dead.

I could be wrong, but that's what I remember Grandma telling me, back in the late 50's.

The syntax may be strange, but wising everyone a Hapy Whatever day just sounds polite to me. ;-)

Have a pleasant day with your family, in any case. ;-)

Thanks beyond the sea.
I'll tell you if these two ladies Lorrie Mylorrie(sp) and Jayana start making the rounds, the fur may fly. Like I posted before the FBI has already got mud on it's face from all this and it remains to be seen what they will or won't turn over about the true story at Ok. City.

Saw McCain on MSNBC the other morning and when asked if he was running for President in 08 he stated that he would wait to see how the elections went in 06. Also said in effect that he wanted to head some committee that he would be qualified for in 07. Said it was his life's ambition to head that committee.

Figure if he doesn't get his way in 07 that he'll run as an Independent for Prez in 08 in order to throw the election to the dems...who would then give him the position he so craves.

An excerpt from that interview:

Meier: Senator I know you've said you'll take another year or so before you'll decide if you will run for the presidency in 2008, but let me ask you slightly differently today. Why wouldn't you run?

McCain: I think that one of the major reasons is assessing whether I can win or not. That would be one of them. Second of all, is the country ready for a candidacy such as mine. That's why I think that the 2006 elections will give some indication of that. There are a lot of factors. My family, how they would react to another run, such as that is, and frankly, how I can be most effective. I am in line to become the Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee in 2007 and that's a pretty big job -- one I've aspired to all my life. So I think It'd be more appropriate to make that decision after the 2006 elections.

Unfortunately I fear, the truth of OKC and Flight 800 (and Flight 587) will just be hidden as it has been for years. It's a bummer. They still haven't told the truth about JFK. Go figure.

McQueeg is trying his best to be a man without a party. He is such an egomaniac that if he can't have his way he will sabotage anyone or any political party that gets in his way."All in the name of unity," what BS!!! Unbelievable, he must have been Manchurianized in Nam.

You just hit on some of the thoughest topics there are to settle. And like you said none of the above may ever be solved. It doesn't help that anytime someone even brings the topics up we get ignored or bashed by the Old/MSM Media.

Really it doesn't matter what people think to me, my biggest concern is the search for the truth, it will out.
