Bonilla will be a great Senator and for those that are into quotas he will raise the level of hispanic representation in the world's greatest obstructive body.

Plots? Wouldn't an object term be plans? Plots is such a loaded, subjective term. Of course the source is the Associated Press and being subjective is the best that can be expected from them.

Henry Bonilla on Immigration
* Voted NO on reporting illegal aliens who receive hospital treatment. (May 2004)
* Voted YES on extending Immigrant Residency rules. (May 2001)
* Voted YES on more immigrant visas for skilled workers. (Sep 1998)
* Rated 0% by FAIR, indicating a voting record loosening immigration. (Dec 2003)
Is the GOP officially the pro-illegal immigrant party?

Y'all's opinions please?
If you have a five spot to go with them then you can enjoy a cup from Starbucks or some place similar....
IMO, she needs to stay where she is. But I do understand her desires to get back to Texas and a less stressful situation to raise her two children.
A contended primary between her and Gov. Perry will certainly stress the party as the party has supported both of them strongly in the past. Both have strong supporters across the state both in and out of elected office that have choose between the two in a contended primary.
My suggestion is that she stay in the Senate for the next four years and at that time when Gov. Perry will be out of office, resign her Senate seat and seek the primary nomination then.

Thanks deport. I think you're right. I'd hate to see the "stress" as you so aptly put it, hurt the GOP in Texas.

That is dissapointing, but virtually every prominent politician in Texas has similar views.

The tone of the AP article is wishing for a bloody primary fight which would enable a no-name RAT, Chris Bell to win the Governorship. However the prospect of a Perry vs. Kay Bailey primary looks cloudy. The following link below shows GOP Washington Insiders planning on offering Kay Bailey a leadership in the Senate if she decides to run for Senate re-election.
"GOP casts doubt on Hutchison's run for governor"
Senior Bush aides have concluded that Hutchison likely won't take on Perry in the (March) GOP primary....McConnell, from Kentucky, said Hutchison will be offered the Senate Republican Conference chair when Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee retires.

There is a third possibilty, that hasn't been mentioned much. It's possible that Hutchison will simply leave elective politics. She clearly dislikes Washington, D.C., and believes that her family would be much better off in Texas.
That's less likely than the other two options, but I wouldn't rule it out.

1: If you want to report illegals for seeking hospital treatment, you have your priorities WAY out of line. Illegal immigration isn't good, but it's hardly a crime that is worth somebody's life. Given a choice between a live illegal immigrent and a dead one, no sane person would chose a dead one.
2: How is granting more legal work visas to foreign nationals have anything to do with illegal immigration?
I don't know anything about the Residency rules, but if it's as badly thought out as your other two points, I'm not gonna worry about it.

I have some issues with KBH but as senator i can live with them.Issue # 1 KBH is used to working 3 to 4 days a week she is slow in making decisions she works 5 to 7 hours a day as a senator. As governor she would have to work or be on call 24/7.She would have to make decisions fast.Imho that would not set very well with KBH.In my area a local radio station had a poll for a week wanting to know if it was a good idea for KBH to seek the governor ship and 52% said no and 39% said yes the balance was undecided

"Congressman Henry Bonilla has announced that he will run for the Senate if Hutchison doesn't seek reelection."
That *is* great news. Electing to the Senate a pro-life, pro-gun, pro-war-on-terror, pro-tax-cuts conservative Republican who happens to be a Mexican-American will help us make the case to the largest Hispanic group in the U.S. that the GOP is the only party who stands for their values. If Hutchison doesn't run for reelection, I think that Bonilla will get endorsements from just about every Texas Republican and should win the primary, and as a Republican candidate who will run stronger than anyone in heavily Hispanic and historically Democrat South Texas, he would be unbeatable in the general election.
My only concern is that so far no top-tier Hispanic Republican has expressed interest in running to replace Bonilla in his 55%-Hispanic 23rd CD. We need a Hispanic Republican to run not only to make sure that the GOP holds the seat, but to ensure that courts don't rule that a district that is 55% Hispanic is "not Hispanic enough" to guarantee a Hispanic congressman and thus order districts that are well over 60% Hispanic (which would likely result in Democrats getting elected). As the Hispanic electorate continues to grow in Texas and throughout the nation, we need to make sure that we can draw Hispanic-majority districts pursuant to the Voting Rights Act that are winnable for the GOP, and outside of the Cuban areas of South Florida that can only be accomplished with districts that are well below 60% Hispanic.
