IMPEACH GREER
May 17, 2005 | Mari Fernandez

Honorable Mr. Bense:

I know that you keep a busy schedule and with utmost respect of your time, I would like to ask for your intervention on an issue that is not only pressing, but also critical for the welfare of all Americans. As we know, laws applied in one case or state, whether right or not, ultimately, create a legalistic legacy that affect the rest of the country.

Therefore, our country stands in the middle of a crisis of unbridled proportion. For the first time in our history, an entire, failed judicial system, is responsible for the murder of an innocent and abused, handicapped woman. This woman, not only did not receive assistance from the called upon authorities, furthermore, her death was precipitated and induced in a most cruel, unusual and undignified way.

Judge Greer, asked the Pinellas Police to carry out an order, that is not only unlawful, but which goes in complete contradiction to other laws that protect the handicapped, women and even animals against such criminal and abusive torture.

Moreover, Judge Greer, defied Governor Bush's order and had the audacity to threaten him with an injunction, if Terri Schindler-Schiavo was placed under protective custody, as it is in the Executive Branch's jurisdiction. Thus, I pose this question to you, and other members of congress: "Since when does a probate, local judge, defy the orders of any Executive Branches and get away with it?"

This despotic judge is not fit to rule in our state. The citizens of Florida and across the nation, demand his impeachment, as well as other legal punishments applicable for his complete and blind disregard of the laws not only of our state but also of our Constitution.

My name is Mari Fernandez and hundreds of citizens have united to form a grassroots effort because of this tragedy. Concerned Citizens for Judicial Reform is composed of thousands of supporters in Florida that will continue to fight this injustice and to press for an investigation and impeachment of Judge Greer.

There are hundreds of other groups like ours, growing all over this country. We stand in awe and disbelief at how morbid and blatantly offensive to any moral code, this crime has been. What an insult to the history of America, to our patriots and to our soldiers that die every day to defend this country. What an insult to our children that may inherit this corrupt and abusive, legal system!

We will not stand for this indecency! For this abuse of power. For this blatant disregard of our laws and any decent moral code of behavior. Our country has come a long way. Many tears and blood have been shed in our land to fight for freedom and justice for all. Not just for the rights of a few, to be dictated by corrupt legal systems and corrupt judges that refuse to obey the law but instead create their own laws in order to pursue their own personal agendas.

Honorable Mr. Bense, the question is not, "What went wrong in this case and with Judge Greer?" The real question is: "What DID NOT go wrong in this case and with Judge Greer's rulings?!!" You see Mr. Bense, those of us, now in the millions, that cared for the life of one of our fellow, American citizens, (not one of our traitors or enemies) have taken upon ourselves to study and analyze this case. We have dedicated ourselves to bring justice, to expose the truth of this case and will continue to do so until our goal of justice is accomplished.

Sadly enough, as time progresses, more evidence of abuse and wrongdoing, comes forward, leaving zero doubt about Greer's full complicity and implication in this case. Evidence that not only, can't be refutted or ignored, but evidence that demands a verdict: Judge Greer, is guilty as charged!.

It is disgraceful, indeed a scandal of shocking proportions, the crime that just occurred in our country. How can we go back to business as usual? How can we live our every day life, unaffected or oblivious to such an atrocity? How can we go back to "sleep"? Pretending that everything is O.K. and that we are not concerned for our family's future, or our very own well being?

How can we ever forget, Mr. Bense? When not even our worst enemies, nor our most hideous criminals, ever receive such cruel and unusual punishment. When there are laws that protect our animals from being exterminated by starvation and dehydration, how could we possibly forget or accept, the brutal death sentence imposed on this helpless, innocent civilian, Terri Schindler-Schiavo.

It is a shame, a disgrace, a real tragedy, to see a young 41 year old handicapped woman, not terminally ill, simply handicapped (in need of the therapy that was continually denied to her) to die slowly and painfully, guarded by police officers that carried out this unlawful order. Since when, Mr. Bense, has food and water, become so illegal in our country that parents cannot give these to their own children for their survival! We have reason to worry, Mr. Speaker of the House! It is a sad day in our country indeed, when a mother cries out to the Governor for help in giving food and water to her own daughter! We know that this is the real crime!

Judge Greer, not only abused Ms. Schiavo, by not allowing any therapy or medical treatment, but became accessory to a crime, by withholding food and water, not only through the removal of her feeding tube, but also by NOT ALLOWING FOOD AND WATER to be given orally, a constitutional crime, and WITHOUT THE LATEST AND PROPER SWALLOW TESTS required by law. Terri's murder in a hidden, reclusive room, where no cameras were allowed to show her horrific death, did not prevent us from "seeing" the reality of this crime.

We, Floridians are eyewitness to a gruesome crime. We were also tortured and forced to abide by what we deemed illegal and criminal! We were forced to watch a mother's torture as she pleaded for her daughter's innocent life as she was denied basic food and water. What has our country become, Mr. Bense? What have we become, Mr. Bense?

I NEVER voted for the law that made a mother giving food and water to her daughter, illegal in our country, and I never will, Mr. Bense. I will never vote for that law, nor approve leaders that show no compassion to citizens' concerns or a mother's pleas to save her own child. I am a mother of a three year old baby girl. I cannot phathom the horror that Mrs. Mary Schindler had to endure and on her behalf, I denounce the crime against her daughter.

Personally, Mr. Bense, I also feel deeply embarrassed to have a "judge" like this in Florida. Judge Greer has brought global shame and dishonor to our country. People from all over the world, including Puerto Rico and Hawaii, have protested his barbaric death decree.

What have we come to? Not even in the Middle East, where women must cover their faces, cannot get an education and are forced to walk 3 feet behind men, have I heard of INNOCENT civilians tortured slowly to death this way.

Mr. Bense, I am sure that you will agree, upon simple overview, that this is an outcry for justice like never seen before in our country. Please bring some comfort to this wounded country. Please start an investigation and legal proceedings toward impeachment of the judge who continually REFUSED to allow evidence to enter his court room, or to hear the concerns of millions of Floridians and Americans around the country... A judge who not only defied the laws of Florida and the United State's Constitution, but also created, a contradictory and unlawful death decree. Last, but not least, a judge that challenged the Governor of our state and even the Congress of the United States of America! Inconceivable!

Mr. Bense, this is a real crisis in our country. As we all know, this case is not only a travesty in its own "merits," but to the horror and dismay of millions, it will set an UNACCEPTABLE AND ILLEGAL precedence in our country. This violation will remain in detrimental contradiction of our Fla. and US Constitution... A contradiction to our American history, legacy, patriotism and everything that we believe and hold sacred in our midst. A contradiction of our values, to our laws, to our rights, to our principles, to everything that we take for granted as our rights as citizens of America.

Mr. Bense, the citizens of Florida deserve an explanation, deserve an investigation and deserve impeachment of a judge that created his own laws while violating ours.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

Sincerely, Mari Fernandez Concerned Citizens for Judicial Reform P O Box 272663 Tampa, Fl. 33688 Hillsborough County, District 11

But we can't even get the GOP for for cloture.

Great post! The citizens of the United States deserve an answer as well. It seems we must now fight for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, all guaranteed, all being taken away.

Ms. Mari Fernandez, I agree with you wholeheartedly but I'm certain you realize the futility of your plea to a government and its branches that is more concerned about the proper handling of a freaking Muslim holy book than a tortuous death by food and water deprivation under armed guard. Enough said for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for American citizens.

Every egomaniac like Judge Greer that is allowed to walk free just sets precedent for others to follow and become accepted in the mainstream of our society. The answer/punishment for this hideous act of murder under the color of law must be met with punishment in kind.

First thing you need to do is fix all the punctuation, grammar, and spelling errors. It's not worth the recipient's time if it isn't worth yours.

Judge Greer is getting awards for what he did - just goes to show you how incredibly depraved this American society has become. America has sunk to a new level of barbarism and the public stood behind it. I support your efforts, it will be a long battle to turn this around.

Ms. Fernandez's plea will be futile only if we let it be futile...

Has a 'wrongful death' lawsuit been filed by Terri's parents? Given the information that I have knowledge of at this time, I would not hesitate to find Greer, Felos, and Mr Schiavo guilty if I were chosen as a juror in that trial!

Just the facts, ma'am. The drama department is down the hall.

Agreed but I applaud the spirit with which it was
sent.

The elected officials in FL need to know that we
haven't "moved on."

Can't wait for the books to come out - that the
wheels of justice may begin to slowly grind.

Is there a way you could report on the progress to date of this petition?

Is it a paper petition, an online petition, and is there a link?
