Anti-terrorist commandoes in armoured vehicles joined policemen to ring the perimeter of a soccer field where Bill Clinton's helicopter was set to land in a Sri Lankan town, as the former US President toured tsunami-hit areas to make sure aid is being distributed properly.
Parts of the small, eastern trading town of Kalmunai looked like a military garrison, with security forces standing a metre apart around the Carmel Fatima College stadium, where Clinton was set to meet with local officials.
Clinton and his entourage were making the trip by helicopter from the capital, Colombo, a 45-minute flight.
The former President was recently appointed United Nations special envoy for tsunami recovery.
Clinton arrived in Sri Lanka on Friday evening on his second visit to this Indian Ocean island since December 26, when massive waves smashed one-third of the country's coast, killing at least 31,000 people and displacing another one million.
Kalmunai is in one of the hardest-hit areas.
During his tour, Clinton hopes to promote "transparency and accountability" measures to ensure aid resources are used fairly, "while retaining the engagement of the millions of investors in this operation," according to a statement released before his arrival.
"He is committed to keeping the world's attention focused on the tsunami recovery," said Jehane Sedky-Lavandero, the press officer for the Office of the Special Envoy of Tsunami Recovery.
Security's tight?
What? they locked up all the women?
Chastity belts, bro.....chastity belts.
All the young interns are under lock and key.
Who is paying for these trips??

He's just there to get lei'd.
Bill Clinton the World Government Globalist is bucking for the higher job to eventually replace Kofi Annan.
You have to admit that slick willie would be the perfect replacement for the depraved crooked head of the UN
Security is tight and Bill is loose......
Sri Lankan officials are wise to tighten security during the former impeached president Bill Clinton's visit. Clinton represents a serious danger to all countries. Look at the damage he did to his own country.
He's got the transparency part down pat...
