Glenn Beck, aka, "a sick freak" posted a Memorial Day Essay (audio) written especially for Vietnam veterans. He made my "tough" Vietnam veteran hubby cry.
Below is the text that I typed with hubby's help for those of you with slow connection. I type pretty fast, but couldn't keep up with Glenn's audio, so hubby would play some and pause while I catch up, etc. Of course the text doesn't convey the emotion, but at least, you can read it.
Please excuse any mistakes or typo's. OH, and Glenn? Please don't sue me? You said it was free for all veterans, especially Vietnam veterans, right?
Thanks, this is always a good write up.
Wow. Thanks for the ping list ping thing. ("Auther)SP?)" would be mad at ya, but I appreciate it.)
Memorial weekend is so much more than backyard BBQ and sales, but so many people, excluding Freepers, don't know what it's about.
What an incredibly moving and beautiful piece - I cried all the way through it. Thanks for posting.
God bless all of you who have served, and thank you for your service.
And may God bless all our fallen heroes from all wars.
Guess I'll go hang up my flag on the front porch now!
Thanks Chong....thanks Glenn!
Thank you for reading/listening. After we got home from work today and were relaxing, I saw hubby shaking staring at something on the puter. So I scooted over to his computer and heard it.
We both decided that it needed to be posted here. We join your tears and appreciation for our Military. God Bless you, TEX.
Ran into a WW II Vet (could tell by his hat and the silver hair) in the WalMart parking lot before the election.
His daughter was with him.
I said to him "If nobody else has said it to you today, thank your for your service".
He said something like "it was nothing, really",
to which I responded. "And let's hope that b*****d Kerry doesn't get elected come November."
His face brightened and he said "You're darn tootin!"
His daughter made faces and was indignant, though.
Like we cared.
Thank you, old timer. We will also be displaying the Old Glory on our front yard as always.
It's okay to cry. Real men/women cry for just cause.
God Bless all our Military, past, present, and future. I am so blessed to be a citizen of this country. Thank you, Lord.
*cries*
Thanks for posting this, and thanks to all those who've served.
I just heard Glenn gave the speech. Arggh. That's good stuff.
I LOVE that man......... :-)
Not so sure about his daughter? "Darn tootin!"
I was listening to this on the radio today in the car & had to turn it off to calm down before a class.
The part about the mom tore me up.
You are so welcome, Flyer. Thank YOU for all you do. Yes, Glenn can be silly, (can't wait to hear his more-on trivia come football season, ha ha), but he does pour his heart out at times that makes you cry snot and tears.
Very vivid and moving portrait of what true sacrifice is. I wish we could hear this on the 11:00 news!
Yes, thanks to all who served. I could never pay them back for their sacrifice.
Thank you and thank you Glenn Beck, "you sick freak"!
I like how he integrated his opening with the poem/story "The Other Side" by Patrick (Beanie) Camunes into it. The Other Side by Patrick (Beanie) Camunes"
I have a copy of that picutre titled "Reflections" and that Poem promintly displayed at home. Gifts from my retirement from active duty. I never fail to get choked up reading it...
Rivendell, USAF Ret
Yes. Very Good stuff.
Thanks Glenn.
Thank you veterans. God's never ending blessings to all of you.
Yeah, the part about the Mom tore me up too along with others. Talk about a LUMP in the throat.........
