Danger! Unlicensed manicurist on the loose!
FEAR NOT, gentle people of New Hampshire. Mike Fisher has been apprehended. For the time being we can rest easy knowing that this man is unable to file another fingernail without the proper credentials.
On Monday two Concord police officers arrested Fisher for manicuring without a license. In New Hampshire, it is illegal to give someone a manicure unless you have first graduated from high school or obtained your GED, “(h)ave completed a course of at least 300 hours of professional training in manicuring, in a school approved by the (state Board of Barbering, Cosmetology, and Esthetics) and passed an examination conducted by the board” or, as an apprentice in a salon, received experience equivalent to the 300 hours of schooling.
Of course women and girls give themselves and their friends manicures every day, and the police have better things to do than spy on slumber parties. What got Fisher arrested was his civil disobedience. He demonstrated the absurdity of the law by setting up shop outside the state licensing office and giving a friend an illegal manicure.

We have plenty of arrogant Yankees up here too. They're called Boston commuters. I'm assuming you live in the Atlanta-area, which went crazy with growth in the '90's and now nobody has jobs and the streets look more jammed than Kirstie Allie's arteries. Don't generalize and say that all Yankees are alike. We have more in common than you think.
If you do a little digging, and I'll post this link later, you'll find that the Free Staters wanted an easily manipulatable population. They've probably taken the link down now, but I saw it earlier this year. They can kiss my ass.
They could put the Inian Head on there, or mount Uncanoonok, which is Iriquois for "Woman's Breasts". Check it out the next time you're in Manch-Vegas.

I'm not in the Atlanta area, I'm in NC. The unemployment rate in my home county is 4.6%, which is a minor miracle due to the fact that most of the major industry in the area is being pounded by imports. The relocation trend has been strong here since the 70's. Not on the scale of Atlanta, but strong. You can have Atlanta, it may as well be a UFO landed in the middle of the Georgia countryside. The arrogant yankees to which I referred are the ones who refuse to adapt to new surroundings. Liberal Democrats all, wanting to save us from ourselves. As if their relocation proved anything other than the exact opposite, LOL. Some of my inlaws are conservative New Englanders, the sort of yankee that is not such a problem. I'd take all we could get like that down here, just as I'd take your Free Staters in exchange for all the pitiful, whiney, transplanted northern lefties.
Yeah, we do have alot in common in this respect.
I hate it when new people come in and start making demands instead of trying to adapt. The problem is that, more often than not, the rich ones don't have to adapt and can grease enough palms to get done whatever they want. It's the ones without money who were just looking for something new that I can stomach, because usually they don't have any ulterior motives. They just want to live in a new place.
Look up what's been going on in NH over the last 7-8 years. You might hear a familiar tale...

Here's my solution to many of these licensing problems. Instead of state licensing (which at least 9 times out of 10 or more is loathesome, unnecessary, expensive, etc), better to have private organizations or associations, kind of like guilds. Carpenters' guild, bakers' guild, hairstylists' guild, etc. Voluntary. If someone joins the guild, their work/workplace etc needs to be up to a certain standard - as determined by those who are members of the guild. If they maintain the standards, they get to be a member, and have their work/place of work stamped "guild approved".
Those who don't want to join the guild don't get to have the stamp. Those who want to buy or hire non-guild work would probably pay less, and take the risk that the work etc might not be up to standard. But it's their risk.
I think that's a much better plan.

Down here in the Orlando area we have "NewYoricans" - Puerto Ricans that have lived in NY most of their lives have decided to come down to Orlando.
They have huge Yankess stickers in their back window in Puerto Rican flag colors, and the PR flag itself hanging from somewhere on the vehicle.
I find it extremely funny that they proclaim their love for NY and PR and yet they live in neither one.
I've been busy with Katrina/Rita aftermath and after-action writeups. So far as the FSP and FWP, I've been following things out West more than in RI, but there's activity in both locations.
So in what states have you been busy, and could you tell me what it's like?
