Hollywood knuckles under

Phew — that was close. The creators of "24," Fox Television's thriller-diller starring Keifer Sutherland as counterterror super-agent Jack Bauer, almost put together a compelling TV series rooted in the onerous reality of the war on jihad terrorism. But thanks, apparently, to a few helpful suggestions from the Council of American Islamic Relations (CAIR), they managed to steer clear of all political and historical relevance. This couldn't have been easy. After all, CAIR didn't even come to their rescue until after the show's season had begun with a couple of episodes that featured a typical Islamic sleeper cell embedded in a typical American sleepy suburb. Why doesn't CAIR make their own movies instead of complaining about other people's.

I remember from the mid-70s through the 80s that that bedsheet wrapped sheik was a staple character for Hollywood.

IMHO, "24' just jumped the shark. Went from intriguing to trite formula.

Hollywood has been doing this for a long time.

My one complaint against the James Bond movies, which are otherwise basically comic entertainment, is that Hollywood changed the enemy from the KGB to SMERSH, because they didn't want to offend any Communists.

What, even at the height of the Cold War the USSR couldn't be the bad guys?

Activists don't actively contribute to society.

""Hollywood knuckles under""

Great headline. I can see a long line of Hollywood producers and actors marching along in lockstep dragging their knuckles.

I suggest you pick up one of the bond books. hollywood changed nothing. The KGB was never there.

SMERSH is a counterintelligence agency within the GRU (Soviet military intelligence which in common parlance is lumped into the KGB).

After years and years of TV shows and movies that depict Christians as crazed, wife-beating, child-molesting, racist, psychotic, snake-handling psychos who routinely suffer from auditory hallucinations, it sure is nice to see that Hollywood has finally found a religion they can respect.

Remember the sheik from the 'Rock the Casbah' video by The Clash? Great video - whatever happened to The Clash?
