The New York Times ^ | May 26, 2005 | GINIA BELLAFANTE

"...In December, Ms. Stiller gave birth to the baby, named Samantha, for Dr. Friedman and Dr. Wellisch, conceived with a donor egg and the sperm from one of the partners. (They chose not to know which.) In her decision to work with them Ms. Stiller is part of a small but growing movement of surrogate mothers choosing gay couples over traditional families."

This is but one example where embryos created by doctors are used for a questionable purpose. Another dimension to the very complex ethical and moral problem of stem cell research from discarded embryos.

You mean gay couples can't have children on there own??? I thought it was 'natural' to be gay??

Biology is homophobic.

These social misfits need to get a partner with the proper equipment for the job so the child will have a father and a mother.

I don't think that the discussion of this difficult moral and ethical question of creating embryos for in vitro fertilization, and later use for stem cell research is advanced by smart ass comments about the people in the story.

IMHO the only moral and ethical reason for in-vitro is using the egg and sperm of the people involved.

What is smart assed about the truth???

Here's the loving picture from the article:

Dawn Buras, a surrogate, was watched over by Anthony Ramos, a prospective father, after undergoing an embryonic
transfer in March.

No matter how hard the reprobate try-- what those who choose the homosexual lifestyle do remains unnatural
and contrary to Gods will.

So this slut. Yes I mean slut. What else can you call a woman who would use her body for an incubator? Take a donor egg and two puddles of sperm, does the eeny meeny miny mo thing to pick which puddle gets to be mixed with the donor egg. Lays around eating bon-bons for 9 months and sells the baby to two queers . Nice work . And you thought it was illegal to sell babies.

There will come a day where these women will stand before God and be shown and judged for what the perverts have done to their children.

Rick Wellisch changed the diaper on his 3-month-old daughter, Samantha, as his partner, Cary Friedman, and the baby's surrogate mother, Lura Stiller, looked on. Ms. Stiller, who lives near Dallas, was visiting the family at their home in Cambridge, Mass.

What I am beginning to question is the creation of embryos for any purpose, since most of them are later destroyed. It is a very complex moral and ethical issue that has nothing to do with homosexuals.

This particular article IMO points up the misuse and abuse when you start down that slippery slope of creating life by artificial means.

I don't think gays should be rearing kids.

Let them just rear each other.

What does Bearing Babies for Gay Couples have to do with stem cell research. Nothing-so face the truth of the situation. Children need the male and the female role models to follow when growning up.

It is about creating embryos, i.e. human life and using those embryos for un natural means, like the surrogate pregnancy in the article. The same embryos are frozen for later use, and then destroyed.

I question whether artificially creating human life in the first place is not the problem.
