My late in-laws are rolling over in their graves right now. They lived in LA for years. This is not good.

"We need our police officers to fight gangs and organized crime." And, Mr. Mayor, exactly where do those gangs and criminals come from?

I'm truly sorry for your loss.
That being said, the people of LA have elected the Mayor they deserve. The Demographics have shifted enough so the Aztlan is on the fast track to reality.
America has slumbered into a deep sleep and I wonder if it will die before it awakens.

Los Angeles mayor-elect Antonio Villaraigosa said Wednesday that Mexico will play an important role in shaping his policies, reports Mexico's EL UNIVERSAL Online. Does anyone know Mr. Villaraigosa's citizenship status?
Is he a native born American, if so which generation?
Is he a naturalized citizen?

LA should be made to know that they will lose state and federal funding if they want to be so damned independent.

===================================
Los Angeles mayor-elect Antonio Villaraigosa said Wednesday that Mexico will play an important role in shaping his policies, reports Mexico's EL UNIVERSAL Online.
"We are starting a new era. Instead of closing the borders, as stated by Schwarzenegger, we should look at our border as an opportunity," Villaraigosa said. "This is a time of great importance, not just for us to rediscover our roots, but looking to create a mutually beneficial relationship," added the city's first Latino mayor since 1872.

This idiot seems unable to understand that 2/3 of those wanted for murder in LA are illegals, and the majority with LA arrest warrants against them are illegals.
Clearly he wants to be a mayor for illegals than he does a mayor for the CITIZENS.

It gets worse and worse. I'll always treasure my ten years in Los Angeles as the best in my life. But I left in 1977 and can never go back thanks to the appalling crime rate and prejudice against "Anglos" in what was once the most incredible place in America to live and raise kids.
WE lived in Santa Monica, which was a marvel of friendliness and community feeling back then....but when I visited a friend there a couple of years ago, no one smiled at anyone on the streets or shops and hardly anyone even went out to jog without a big threatening dog at their side.
The city and environs could always absorb legal immigrants who came there to work.....but so many now come to deal drugs and commit crimes, it can only get worse. Especially with a mayor who openly invites criminals to crash what's left of social services and cause even more chaos.

"Politicians in the United States need to understand that immigrants come here for the same reason that immigrants have always come: To work," Villaraigosa told EL UNIVERSAL. "Instead of punishing and demonizing them, we should try to integrate them." "And not in any legal or organized way", the mayor added. /sarcasm
