It ain't pretty, but who do you disenfranchise? Yeah, I agree, but that's not the issue here. A Birth Certificate is a record of the blood parentage of a child, not a feel-good award for the baby's scrapbook. The names recorded on the birth certificate need to be the names of the two people who contributed their DNA to create the child, and no one else.

Wait a second. My very good friend just married a woman who was pregnant, but not by him. His name appears on the birth certificate. Period. He will be the Father, not the sperm donor.
