But they have no problem showing inflammatory pictures of what a few misguided and arrested individuals did in a prison overseas, even if it inflames Muslims.

Government lawyer Sean Lane argued that releasing pictures, even if faces and other features are obscured, would violate Geneva Convention rules on prisoner treatment by subjecting detainees to additional humiliation or embarrassment.

I recall that when the MSM first started pumping Abu Ghraib one of the men in the pictures, who was quickly identified, noted that the media exposure was worse then the original abuse.

This is a good deal of the point of the Geneva Conventions, that the MSM and ACLU apparently used to be so concerned about.

Of course on a more fundamental level, the question is how does releasing these pictures help us win the WoT. If releasing them does not, and I think this is almost certainly the case, the government should be obligated to sit on them until the conflict is over.

Funny how they never seem this outraged at abuse in American prisons, by prisoners on prisoners, for example.

I've made this point myself to no answer. If military police abusing prisoners under their control is national news, why isn't every case of police officers/prison guards abusing prisoners under their control national news?

Hell, I remember when the AG of CA was cracking jokes about how he hoped the head of Enron would be repeatedly raped in prison after being convicted...
